joleon lescott

He is a defender pure and simple. He may not be a ball playing centre half but he is still an outstanding defender IMO.

Its obvious imo that Solid centre halfs are our major weakness and I have no idea why Manuel persists with demichelis.

please Manuel, link Vinny and Joleon.

I was praising Lescott, bud.

Praising with the classic barbed comment usually used only by those who don't really like him. I wonder how positive " Cant believe he's gone down the toilet in <2 years" really is.

He's the exact same player he was two years ago. It's just that we have moved up a couple of levels since then.
We've moved on a couple of levels that's for sure trouble is the defence hasn't.

The way we've treated title winning heroes Joleon Lescott and Gareth Barry does raise questions about how deep an understanding of the subtleties of the English game our management staff possess.

Lescott should've played a lot more. Too much stock has been placed by first Bobby and now Pelle (common link Txiki?) in ball playing centre halves. In a team full of wizards like ours we can put up with Lescott's relative discomfort in possession and limited passing ability because he brings a real solidity to the defence. Occasionally against top class strikers his lack of pace and mobility and technique will be exposed but so will Nasty and MDM's shortcomings too. If we make him Vinny's 1st choice partner for the run in I'm sure we'd concede less goals than with any other pairing.

MP might have to bite the bullet on this one.

Nasty is short on confidence and MDM and VK lack a bit of cohesion.

Lescott has the experience to play a role with little or no lead time.

While he is off in the summer its about the hear and now and I think if we leave him on the bench we may end up making our quest for silverware even harder than it already is now.

Not to mention the fact that he knows how to pop in a header from corners and free kicks. Can't help but think he'd have headed one in today. Do we not think he could have handled defending against Norwich? In Pellers we trust but this last match seemed to be one where Joleon could and should have featured.

Totally agree on the jolean an Barry thing - they've both been treated with a lack of respect in my opinion- at least Barry is playing though.
Jolean must wonder what the fuck he has to do to get a game when its obvious that both MDM and nasty are both struggling.
When jolean plays there seems to be more team spirit also along the back four.
Get jolean in !!!
