joleon lescott

Lescott is a better defender than Nasty. Nasty has not improved and looks very nervous. I would defo play Lescott in the matches that we need a strong defence in, away to Liverpool, Everton and Arsenal especially.

I get that MD is a better distributor of the ball but Lescott is a better defender.

Lescott is awful when we play high line. Thats why even an older, maybe slower Demichelis is still playing more in the league. Lescott was ok vs WHU and Blackburn and Watford maybe. I dont trust him more than Demichelis.

Unfortunately Nastasic needed that extra help the defence were getting under Mancini's system. That help is gone in Pellegirni's system and for this reason all our defenders have lot more/harder work to do per match.
In Mancini's system maybe they really looked better than they really were. Now our creative players look lot better tho. Clearly we went from playing a style that were good from our defenders to play a style thats good for our strikers. Balance is key tho, without that we will have problems.

Getting better defenders will be just part of solving the problem.

I would place Joleon ahead of Nasty at the moment in the pecking order. That is partly because Nasty does not seem to be playing quite as well as last season. In addition I think Lescott has played better than Nasty in the games that they have played.

Obviously Demichelis is number one, and this is largely to do with his ability to play the ball at speed out of defence. Joleon and Nasty don't quite have the same skill.

Nevertheless at the moment I would prefer Lescott to Nasty when the occasion demands. Put it this way, I would feel more confident with him in a big match ahead of Nasty.

I really cant beleive that people who follow this club are at ease with demechellis being ahead of lescott in the pecking order - lescott is a defender and does this job better than nasty and demechellis.
His passing really isn't as bad as people make out and he doesn't try things he knows he can't do, so generally retains possesion of the ball.
I think his positioning and decision making is also better than the two aswell.
On top of all this, i dont care what anybody says- vinnie looks more at ease with lescott playing, so for , at the moment its jolean for me.

We must be lacking if Lescott is the answer.
We are a stop gap ageing centre half who was brought in as cover, a youngster who started well but hasn't improved and looks like his confidence is totally gone and if we're honest needs taking out of the firing line or Lescott steady if not spectacular probably best of the three and has got a league winners medal.

At least Lescott has some idea on how to defend. Nastasic hasn't. Can't tackle, constantly fouling and poor in the air. He has managed to become the player he replaced and that takes some doing.

Great shout. With each game he is gradually becoming a Savic part 2.

A Bradford-supporting mate of mine can't understand why Nastasić is starting ahead of Lescott.

And I can't either. As others have said, Matija hasn't kicked on and improved from last season and he always giving away fouls in dangerous positions on the edge of our box.

He doesn't have the experience that Joleon has and IMHO, JoLo should have started against the chavs.

Yup - Excepting his fuck-up against QPR, Joleon was very solid alongside Kompany in our title season. Cant believe he's gone down the toilet in <2 years.

Why the hell do people have to keep harping on about that?

Vinnie also made a mistake in the same match that also led to a goal, but that hardly ever receives a mention on here.

All players make mistakes and that one ultimately didn't cost us anything.

Apart from a few heart palpitations, maybe.
