Unfortunately mate the opposite would be true for many reasons.
Children who are James Bulger's age do not recognise adult strangers because their photo has been on the news and in the papers. If that happened, Venables would go to ground and he could not be monitored and managed, as my post on the previous page. As a sexual and violent offender, he is subject to pretty stringent monitoring conditions. Those work, as demonstrated by it being found that he has again be downloading iioc. Ergo, children have been kept safe, as his monitoring and restriction works. The minute his anonymity is gone, the minute that will be lost and he will disappear, in effect 'going rogue'.

What will also happen is, someone who looks like him will be subject to the usual Chinese whispers campaign of hate on Faceache which spreads like a bad rumour through the estate and that poor doppelganger will end up getting to beaten to within an inch of his life or even worse once the Oranjeboom kicks in and Game of Thrones has finished. Or someone with a similar name who looks a bit like him gets subject to the same rumours and fate, or sacked, or becomes unemployable.

This is the country that saw a baying mob of morons hound a professional out of her house and force them to move after they stalked her and smashed her house up because they heard she was a paediatrician. Indeed she was, but instead of recognising her good work the stupid fuckers thought that was the same as being a paedophile.

Anyway, that is just another reason why there would not be ANY increase in public safety for ANYONE, should his identity be revealed, and especially not for children.

I agree with you. If someone isn't fixed they should not be released. I can never understand why they aren't castrated. Surely that lessens the chance of reoffense.

But I'd go further than you (I think). I do believe that prison should be a form of revenge for some crimes and rehabilitation for others. I don't see anything wrong with harsh punishment provided you can be sure it's the correct person. I'd have these guys doing hard labour til they drop every day. I'd have no pity on the very few who are cruel beyond belief.

recent cases, have had all charges dropped, as their accusers prove to be women making malicious, unfounded
accusations. Now these are men who have been convicted of nothing whatsoever, but have their lives ruined
as the accuser is immediately presumed to be a victim, whilst they then have to prove they are not the perpetrator.
For me, this is a perversion of justice, this is one poor bloke who's experience makes for harrowing reading.

Whilst most of what you say is undoubtably true, the biggest culprits in this are the police. To have the evidence in front of them and to withhold it, hoping to secure a conviction on a lie, is unforgivable. Her false accusation is indeed despicable, but we have no idea of her mental health and what else might have been going on in her life.
The first job of the justice system, as far as I’m concerned at least, is protecting the innocent and not securing a conviction at any cost.
The police are supposed to do the jobs they get paid for and stop stuff like this ever getting to a court room.

But he wasn't in prison, he was in a childrens home near barton airport. They used to go shopping in the trafford centre and do normal things. He wasnt in a prison or borstal as they would in the old days. Granted he didnt have the freedoms everybody else did. But the state did everything they could to rehabilitate him. Probably had the best psychological minds working with him, and we know how it worked out !! i believe the other monster (internet speculation) is in a same sex partnership

I question whether the monitoring is working. He had a fuck load of images that would have been gathered over a lengthy period of time so theyre not watching that closely.

The sentence is ludicrous considering his past and regardless of his age at conviction initially he clearly is a danger to society and not fully rehabilitated so should be serving a lengthy sentence for this latest crime.

I agree with protecting his identity because we have a criminal justice system designed to punish people rather than mob law. However the justice system is failing based on that sentencing.

Absolutely. And let's not forget that at the time of their conviction, Thompson was considered the worst of the two. Not that Venables himself was exactly an angel of course, but the way it was reported you'd have thought Thompson would've been the one who was least likely to be rehabilitated.
