From what I remember Venables and Thomson did get long sentences given at the time but some Do gooding Lawyer got involved and got them released.

Personally I don't think upbringing comes into it. Some people are just born wired up with the ability to kill others and it doesn't affect them the way it does most people. Sadly these two met at an early age and were on the same wavelength. I always thought that Thomson was the worst one out of the two from what I read about the case when it happened and after but it seems not.

They got 8 years initially. 8. It was then increased to 15, then decreased again. They were released after their initial 8 year sentence at the age of 19, or in other words with the rest of their lives ahead of them. 8 years for the kidnap, torture and murder of a 2 year old boy. Only in Britain.

Kids watch films/ play violent games etc - It hasn't made them kill a 2 year old..

I'm not defending or excusing here but--------kids in care[which effectively he was for those years] in a secure children's home, is rife with child abuse. Statistics suggest that kids that who have been sexually abused are attracted to child Porn and abusing . I think he is one damaged fucker who sadly is'nt probably safe to be out in the community. Alternatively, he is just a result of evil sperm.

Thats one thing that really riles me up when people blame the family. One of my closest friends had an up bringing so bad it makes Jon Venables upbringing look like he was raised by merry poppins. In fact i know several people that have had horrific childhoods and they have turned out to be very good normal well balanced people.

Its just in Jon Venables nature to be a horrible **** which has been proven time and time again. With his actions whilst he was institutionalized and by his actions since being released.

Look pal we all know of lads and girls that had a shit upbringing and haven't turned out murdering little fuckers. But it dosen't fucking help having sod all guidance from those that should train you how to be a decent human being. I knew from a very early age that if I did owt wrong I would get a deserved hiding, my parents had a good idea what I was up to at the age of 10.

If it riles you that I believe better parenting skills might have stopped this tragedy then so be it.

It riles me that the blame goes on the parents and barley anything on the sicko child. Everyone always seems to be looking for something else to blame because they just cant rap there head around the fact that a child could be such a twisted little fucker.

Think about this there are people in this country that as child have grown up in a warzone and have witnessed unimaginable acts of depravity. They've witnessed genocide on huge scale seen there parents and siblings raped and murded infront of them. They've then been kidnapped, forced into being drug addicts, molested and turned into child soldiers. These people when given 1/10th of the chance that Jon Venables had have then snatched it with both hands and have grown up to be normal.

However if they had had strong parental guidance from both the mother and father they might just well have been slightly more level headed and not gone out and kidnapped, tortured and murdered a 2 year old.
