Jonny Evans

No such thing as a fourth CB. He will be in the mix rotating and will play a significant number of games. Let me get this right 30 million for Evans or 60 million for VVD - now that is a hard one.
Misleading. Jonny may only be 25m. VVD may he as high as 80m. And he's not for sale. The market has changed. We're likely to pay over the odds for JE, but not much.

Now that the rags players and ours socialise together and seem to be oblivious to the intense rivalry between the fans, i find it hard to get upset about the Evans situation. If he comes , he comes, rag or ex rag hardly seems bothering about. Certainly when Tevez was on the cards I do not remember such vitriol. I first felt the rivalry between reds and blues was dwindling a long time ago, listening to Joe Hart on radio when I was driving home after a 1-0 loss to the rags at home. It was just another game to him and he looked forward to the next one. I was raging. Not worth it, and if Pep thinks Evans is the one, then so be it.
I don't give a toss who he used to play for, it's the fact that he's fucking gash that bothers me

Its not though, and player coming to the PL has a mark up because of the money the PL has to spend, if you don't see that you're very naive.

Arsenal bought Gabriel for 11m from Spain, two years later they sold him to Valencia for 10m.

Spurs bought Vertonghen for 7m , Alderwield for 11m.

Southampton bought Virgil for 7m and there are many other examples of English clubs buying players for a reasonable price.

To be honest I disagree with putting in Tosin because he's a local lad and to finally give youth a chance. Pep has already proved throughout his career, that if the kids around him are good enough, he'll play them. The fact he rarely played any of ours in the4 last 12 months, speaks volumes about the way we rate our kids and how Pep does.

Youth can wait it's turn, right now what would you rather: A. a potless season, but the kids got regular run outs? or B. We used them as and when needed and won titles and trophies this season?

To alleviate this issue, this is why there has been an obvious hook up between City & Girona. Maffeo looked the best defender on the park to me when we played them, hopefully he'll take this seasons opportunity to prove he deserves a fair shot with City. No way am i in favour of fielding inferior lineups just to prove we have faith in our youth who just are not up to task of regularly helping us to win major trophies at the moment.

Everyone wanted Patrick Roberts to be given a chance this season. Did you watch him in pre-season at all? he's not yet ready for where we desire to be and his underwhelming performances proved this. The fact we wanted him forego the procession and glory of another easy title win for Celtic and prove himself in a tougher league, but he refused the chance speaks volumes.
Well we played no youth last season and didnt win anything. A youth player playing the odd game isnt going transform our season. Roberts woulf have been a better option than navas last season imo

Just remember that we don't seem to be in for £60m Virgil Van Dijk... That suggests to me that that £30m is being put to use elsewhere. If another CB was the final signing we wanted to make in this window, then we would probably be looking at someone pricier.

You cannot compare the foreign market to English clubs. We're all awash with TV money and every fucker knows it.

Of course I know mate. But I just wanna point out how stupid the market has turned out here. That's why I mentioned Premier League specifically. And why City should simply turn to a foreign target and stop sponsoring other PL teams. We and the PL are a aughing stock when you compare the money being reported for Evans and Bonucci.

Alternative then please. I'm sure CIty would have rather paid £18m, but this is the same old story with all our transfers

The alternative is to walk away when the price becomes beyond value, when we start doing this teams will eventually not look to us a their chance to get rich and know we have had enough of having our pants pulled down and shafted up the arse.

30m for JFE is a joke even in a high priced market, tbh I was against the Gibson transfer but I would rather have him at a similar price than a nearly 30yo with no value left for reselling inside a year or two.

Would rather Tosin as hes a local lad and I want youth to finally be given a chance since the takeover

Me too, but that isn't important unless he's actually good enough, which it doesn't seem he is.

We all laughed our arses off at Tottenham fans suggesting that Trippier was as good as Walker, or when Liverpool supporters claimed Ibe was better than Sterling. In the same fashion, some of our fans are saying that Evans isn't a huge upgrade on Adarabioyo, which I find completely unreasonable.

If pep plans on continuing with the current formation with three at the back. I suspect evans would actually push stones for a first team place and wouldnt even be surprised if he displaced him. He's been part of a very good defensive unit at west brom for the past two seasons and I believe suits exactly the type of player pep looks for in a defender and would work very well in the current set-up

As he is an ex rag, I have never watched him play. He played his part in our League winning season as Sir Joey of Barton did. He can only be applauded for that. In Pep we trust (ish!).

It's hard to get used to the inflated fees, but it's the reality of the situation now. If you want to buy from another PL club, you've got to stump up because no-one actually needs the money.

I think the comparison with Bonucci obviously on the face of it is kind embarrassing, but it's ultimately irrelevant. For a start if it'd been us buying him, it would have been more than 35m. And then when you consider the fee's being paid between PL, it's money that's circulating within the league, prices are going up yes, but for everyone. We got £25m for a striker who only started like 20 games for us.
