Jonny Evans

Was our interest in him just us posturing to put pressure on Arsenal? If we wanted Evans we'd have got him by now surely!

Got a feeling he will end up at Arsenal. The agreement over the Sanchez deal could mean that we don't bid for Evans.

City's negotiating Tactics...
City: How much for Jonnny F***ing Evans
WBA: £30m
City £21m?
WBA: £30m
City: £23m?
WBA: £30m
City: £28m?
WBA: £30m
City: OK £30m it is then.
WBA: And another £5m for pissing us off
City: OK (much celebrations for bagging the target)

I really don't know why we bother with the dance.

Of course you wouldn't. You've always rated him and wish we had signed him years ago. He's been wasted at wba hasn't he?

I never gave signing him a second thought until he was linked, but he does look a better player than Mangala and Tosin, and for the record, Lovren, Holding and Mustafi too. He could do better than WBA but won't be our first choice. I don't see the problem with that.

I imagine the theory is that if you bid £30m to begin with then the price goes up.

I do, it's called negotiating a better price we may not often be successful but we have got good prices for Jesus, B. Silva and others in the past, we wont know what price they started at because why would a club announce that?

Your suggestion is much akin to Homer Simpson's "never try"... Maybe you are happy for City to be complete pussies at the negotiation table but I'm not. Always try and negotiate a better price when they are taking the piss... walk away if you feel they are taking liberties(they are and we should).

I don't even think he's good enough for our team and he's far overpriced to boot, so I'm so so glad we are dragging our feet on this one. Come on Arsenal pay the £30m so we don't have to.

Its a shame that so many blues hate the rags more than they love City.

The reason most people I know dont want Evans is because they think he`s an average defender who plays in an 11 man defence at his present mid/table club.
At City the defence dont have the luxury of deep cover or protection from a defencive mid. Even player`s like Otamendi and Mangala who were coveted by some of the best teams in Europe are made to look average at times of pressure when isolated.

When Jonny F Evans left United was he sought by a gaggle of top clubs for his signature. No he ended up a WEST BROMICH ALBION. Now we the people that think he is an average defender in an 11 man defence are being ask to belief all this bollocks that Jonny has turned into the new Franc Beckenbauer.

Not for me. I`d of taken Maguire before this clown and just for the record he wouldnt be right for us either.

Negotiating to find an acceptable price for the seller only works if the buyer is prepared to walk away. We are not prepared to do that so it pretty much ends up as I described it above.

Spot on.

Blue first

Yep.
Tbh, I put that because I was sick of reading posts slagging off a possible Evans transfer giving the fact he previously played for united being given as a reason - throwing that in as a lazy extra (... and he was a rag etc). Not wanting him cos he isnt a good enough player, then fair enough, but being ex united is no reason for not wanting him

That's my stance on this one too. We seem to keep on making these kind of signings, which don't improve us at all, the likes of Rodwell, Delph, Sinclair et al. We all know they are not at the level we need but as soon as we get linked people come on here trying to convince everyone they are world beaters.

Also £30m for this guy, let that sink in. The world has gone mad.

LOL!! I agree mate.....everyone knows its going to take 100mil in next 24hours to get Sanchez and Evans, so if we want them, just do it!;)

What makes you think we aren't prepared to walk away?
