Because he's not good enough and way too expensive. A total brain fart of a signing. Every single United fan I know is pissing themselves laughing and praying this happens.
Every single Rag I've spoken to said he was the best out of Jones & Smalling, but being Rags who watched all three in the pub every week, what would they know? Considering Smalling & Jones are still at old Toilet, the mystery deepens...

Can I ask how often have you watched Evans & specifically observed him?

I asked myself the same question & honestly couldn't answer because the only players I ever watch & closely analyse are City players, or the ones we've been linked to. Assuming Pep & Txiki haven't just pulled Evans' name out of thin air, I'd imagine that they've done their homework & were sufficiently impressed enough to go in balls deep for Evans.

OR, maybe not. Perhaps we might have just been so desperate to be rid of Mangala, That the first available CB would do? What dya reckon?

Yep there manager! why before he took over that shower of shite Liverpool Everton Villa Arsenal had won more trophies in there history and where only Around 7 in front of us? We all know what put them on the map milked to fcuk as well.

Anyway back on topic I will give Evens the benefit of the doubt when I go and watch my team you can call him waste of money and shite thats what forums are for opinions.

I really do hope I am wrong. But he wasn't good enough for the shite 4 years ago I don't think he has improved. On a side note my mates son played with him at United and West Brom in his opinion he is a twat

I cannot honestly believe anyone on here think Evans for 30 million is good value. Wonder what people would have said about him joining before he was linked with us.

My God the overreaction in this thread is something else. Look we all know he's not worth the money being spouted but in this climate we're in with transfers what matters more is if he improves the team and imo he does. He is not close to being a world class player that and doesn't have age on his side at 29 but he still has a lot of football left in him for a defender and is much better than a lot give him credit for. He is a slightly above average defender who for my money is better than both mangala and the current version of stones. Let's not forget this is a player who played a key role in a team that won the league and just missed out on winning it on the last day. In both 2011/12, 12/13 seasons where united finished 2nd and 1st he made 29 and 23 league appearances respectively in those campaigns. Since joining west brom he's been a major part one of the best defensive unit in the past two seasons. Only 8 teams conceded less goals than them last season and only the top 6 teams did so the season before. This is clearly a good defender who pep has realised has the technical ability to thrive in a much better team.

There are a few similarities to this transfer and the one chelsea made of cahill when he was at bolton(outside of the fees). Cahill was also deemed average and a player who wouldn't improve chelsea yet 7 years later he's played a key role in them winning two league titles, played and won in a champions league and europa league final and been voted in the pfa team of the year 3 times. I'm not saying evans could have the same impact but this is a good player who still has years left in him and in the right set up and team could definitely play a role going forward.

I would have thought there have been lots of scouts doing the round and yet we are the only daft fuckers to put a bid in for this bang average WBA twat.

Absolutely Callum. Add in his very impressive performances for NI and it's clear this signing is something we should want to happen.
