Jonny Evans

This 'Ticks all the boxes' bollocks has certainly gained plenty of traction over the last day or two hasn't it.
That, and he a 'solid' signing seem to be the favourites from the pro Jonny brigade who insist on labelling any naysayers as loons only bothered because of his utd connection.
Well the reality is we are overpaying for a player, a CB no less, with little pace who's easily bullied and not particular great in the air. A player who has never played the system we operate in which is to attack from the back but has instead been involved in heavily defensive set ups for club and country. Being able to pass the ball is all well and good and his experience might help him not to bottle it playing for us like some others in the past, but I'm not having he's the answer to our defensive problems. No fucking way. Do I trust the manager? Yes, completely. Am I going to give him a free pass with all of his signings? No, not at all. People seem to have forgotten on here that you can do both.

mate, I am on your side and do not want him, but there are those much better informed than anyone on here who might be thinking otherwise
Yeah I know we don't get to decide or have the coaching badges etc but I believe that you, me or anyone else is capable of spotting a poor investment and one that is short sighted. If he signs next year we have 3 cbs 30 or 30 plus that's gonna need more money to fix. I don't really rate tosin from what I've seen but he needs games and if he's the best in our academy that's probably an issue as well. We haven't got the cb situation right since lescott left really and I just find the signing of Evans a panic one that is frustrating. I can see it happening though unfortunately.

If he is as bad as you advocate, why are we even considering it - gen question as surely even Pep and his team would see these obvious failings

What price are we talking about today? It was 18m on Thursday, 20m Friday morning and 25m when I went to bed last last night. Have we had another price hike?

He's not bad, he's average and has as many weaknesses as he does 'tick boxes' is the point I'm making.
I'm not going to answer why pep and his team don't see what I do because it's a fucking cop out question from people not willing to think for themselves.

He would improve a Stone Otamendi partnership. That was terrible last season. He's cover.

This Evans talk now is boring: "He's good, he's rubbish, he can play from the back. He just hoofs it". Anyone says what they want to suit their opinion.

The facts are that he is a very experienced player, and captain of his club. Ideal player for cover. Better that than none. And an improvement on Kolarov last season, and Demichelis/Nastasic in previous title winning seasons.

I am interested in why we are bidding for Evans now when all our other business was done ages ago. Sanchez is still outstanding but that interest was signposted ages ago. Plans have changed. Why? Have the striker deals fallen through? Or do we think Mbappe is no-go, and therefore we can buy Sanchez and Evans?

So it's boring when other people want to air their opinion, but you've just added to it.

Maybe the same way we considered ..Rodwell/Sinclair

i doubt Pep is that arsed about Evans..i think he is more interested in Sanchez or Mbappe

Got a feeling this is a club decision--HG squad filler signing

Do you really think Pep would change his mind because of the droolings of hysterical, semi-literate morons on a forum? Kinnell.

No I don't but I'd imagine they would listern to the fans. Look what happened to Figo when he moved to their rivals.

This transfer does not make sense at all. Who ever thinks it does have fuck all knowledge about the game. Anything over £8m for this player is a joke.
