Surely the logic of keeping 2 foreign spots free for both Sanchez and Mbappe to join before close of window is rather fanciful.

It appears that defending is always bottom of the list of priorities, the area where we can make the compromises. It'll bite us on the arse in the end imo.

You appear to be working on the basis that home grown spots have to be filled with a defender and can't possibly be done elsewhere on the park. Of course that will be the case in the end but only because the club will choose to - because Pep would much rather compromise when it comes to defenders than attackers. How many foreign spots do we have left anyway, I thought it was 2 so no idea why the CB has to be homegrown even if get Sanchez.

Tbh if we bought Sanchez anc mbappe this window and managed it because we'd settled for Evans at cb, I'd think it was ridiculous because we don't need both Sanchez and mbappe. Much rather have VVD and one of those two attackers.

I hate this as a reply to a fellow City, it is like no no you are not allowed an opinion of your own, the god has choosen so fucking deal with it.

Well I hate to spoil your rhetoric but the pair of them have a dogshit record of buying centre halves, Txiki has an awful record and that is just with us.

So I feel it is valid that fans can question the transfer of Evans, not that it matters one way or the other, they are hardly likely to see this thread and change their mind, all it does is put City fans against one another yet again, every thread is like that in here at the end of the day.

Depends on how you define defending or the best way to defend. I think it is entirely wrong to say defending is bottom of the priorities but Pep's approach is to keep the ball as far away from his team's goal for as much of the game as possible. It's an approach that has worked for him and he is not going to change how he defends, as he said yesterday.

The club have just spent about £100m on two full backs (plus c. £70m on another FB and keeper) who add much needed energy, pace and power to the backline so the idea that defending or defenders are a low priority is overstating things, IMO.

The net investment in the defence this summer is likely to be around £200m so I'd be interested to know how much has to be spent for it not to be low priority?

Depends whether you think the full backs have been bought for their defensive abilities or their attacking abilities. Mendy looks more like a winger than a full back to me.
