I agree with you about VVD, Bonucci and VK's potential injury problems.No. I would love if we went for VVD. I would have been ecstatic if we got Bonucci. I don’t know what the circumstances are, financial or otherwise, that have led us to JE, but he’s a solid central defender available at a reasonable price (maybe). And he’s much better than Mangala. And whatever about Vinnie’s injuries, if Stones loses form again, then JE is a no-brainer.
However I can't see us getting Evans for a reasonable price. Pulis is treating the situation like a huge lottery win, £17m would be generous even allowing for the market.
IMO Evans is mediocre at best. If he wasn't home grown I don't think we would be considering him at all.
I would rather we had fewer quality flexible players, I am surprised Pep has not applied his ingenuity to adapting another player to act as cover, as he got Kolarov to do.
