While an offer in the region of £25m plus add-ons may cause Albion to consider Evans’s sale, Guardiola is also insistent that, if his central defence cannot be strengthened, he will still be content.

“We try to do the best squad as possible for the long season,” said Guardiola . “We are going to see how the market finishes at the end of the window. If we have to stay with the players we have right now we are happy. If someone comes we are happy too. I know how good the club works since I arrive here and we try to do our best. Sometimes it’s possible, sometimes not. Nothing to say.

Pep at times sounds like a Zen master. I wonder does he have a guru or spiritual master that he consults!

Strangely he had a very good game against Girona midweek, but I think Pep and the team had already decided he wasn't up to it.

Mangala has been inconsistent in his distribution, but he can be a more effective tackler than Evans. Neither is ideal.
He made one good tackle, just about. Otherwise he was his usual awful self.

Are you connected with Evans in some way? Perhaps his agent or a family member ;)
You seem very keen to promote him and criticize alternatives.
No. I would love if we went for VVD. I would have been ecstatic if we got Bonucci. I don’t know what the circumstances are, financial or otherwise, that have led us to JE, but he’s a solid central defender available at a reasonable price (maybe). And he’s much better than Mangala. And whatever about Vinnie’s injuries, if Stones loses form again, then JE is a no-brainer.

He’s atrocious. If we have to rely on Mangala, we’re in for another trophyless season.
ABJE.
If you think this is fun, wait till he signs. There's going to he heads exploding all over the place. I've been thinking about peoples reaction to Evans' transfer to City, and the conclusion I've come to is that it's got nothing to do with his ability, it's got nothing to do with the price, it's even got nothing to do with him being a rag. It's all about the pisstsking, jibes and abuse that has been thrown at Evans', and rags in general about Evans' all these years. Some will have been fair but for the most part will have been made up, exaggerated bollocks which has now come back to bite us on the arse. It's our old friend karma, and it is a woman. We're scared that we're going to get our own shit back.
We're scared of the rags laughing at us.
It's like laughing at someone's ugly bird and then ending up marrying her.
I can actually understand the reaction when I think of it like that.

He really should have been he's brilliant on the ball.
Its mind-boggling, all last season I was saying to friends he'd be a very good CB for Pep and £15m to Leicester was a bargain. Because he's a big lump I think people under estimate how good a footballer he is...

Leicester bought Harry McGuire for £15m... Why was he not on our radar????
Was he on your's? Were you even aware of his existence before he popped up on MOTD tonight. Did you advocate we buy VVD while he was still at Celtic? No, not many did, because you see, hindsight is a wonderful thing and it makes wise men out of fools until the next time.

Okay, you may very well be right. My own view is that we will be in a vicious two-way fight for the title with mu. The margins will be tight. Does JE improve us overall? I think so. Maybe only marginally, but it may be the difference. Who’ll be laughing then?
