barry was absolutely not better with the ball than Fernandinho, he kicked mostly sideways or diagonal with one foot. The best ever reader of a game, average footballer.

Lescott hardly ever got beat by anybody anywhere.

When he did a bunch of ****s on here who had it in for him, hung him on every single occasion, but it was so infrequent, even they were short of ammo, until Mancini fucked the system up with a back 3, which hardly any of them could play & effectively blamed Lescott, but then had to sack it off, without Lescott.

I remember him changing to it one game v Wigan & they ran fucking rings round it so he changed it back.

Barry would Imo be far better for us than Fernandinho. What we are missing is an intelligent footballer who will sit in front of the defence, break up play, keep possession, make himself available for the ball and keep it moving. Barry was a 6/7 out of 10 performer every single game and has been for nearly 15 years. Yes Fernandinho was outstanding in his first season and pretty good for half the next season, but at times he has been woeful and a liability. Fernandinho might be better further forward but that's not exactly what we need. We need someone in the Barry role and I would rather have a 30 year old Barry than a 30 year old Fernandinho.

In regards to Lescott. He played a major part in our success. Yet at times he had Barry, Yaya and De Jong in front of him, a prime and world class Vincent Kompany at the side of him and our full bucks at their peak. It would have made no difference if that was Mangala in there instead of Lescott.

I will leave it there anyway mate as I do not want to derail the thread too much. I think we have vastly different opinions here

At times he had nobody, but still won the ball or held up the player, until they got back.

Barry by the way, had far better defenders around him, than we have now, but still got left for dead in europe.

Hummels imo, would guarantee us missing the title.

We have only had 3 decent cbs imo. Kompany, Lescott & Demichelis for half a season. Lescott only suited Mancini's style, then Mancini decided to change his style (end of Mancini).

The rest of the time the cbs have been average to shit. Or moreover, Otta/Stones average, Kolo/ Mangala occasionally average, the rest, to a man, complete & utter fucking dogshit and nowhere near even close to the level required.

I think it's down to all 3 managers having the same weakness in different ways, ie: they just aren't great at picking central defenders.

Thirteen defensive partners for Kompany and counting then.. In your opinion why would Hummels garuntee us missing the title? Do you seriously not rate him?
