Fair enough up to a point and you might well be correct on your last point about a bigger plan. However, surely every signing in recent years has been subject to the same detailed OPTA metrics, yet some have turned out shit. Why? Probably because metrics - although extremely useful - still leave a lot untold. And then there's the chemistry: fitting in with team mates, manager and the system.
I agree. The difference with interpreting the available metrics is the difference between the managers who interpreted them, namely Pellegrini & Guardiola. I know who I'd choose to make sense of scouting reports and how they fit in with our greater plan.

To be fair, we've signed a duck egg or two under every manager since the takeover.

True. You only truly know what you've got, once the player has signed, but there was a plan with Mancini & Pep that was missing under Pellegrini. I know Txiki has a major part to play, but aside from the summer of 2012, all of our managers have insisted the decision to sign players has been theirs.

We have 4 plus Tosin and Denayer ,off the top of my head, but Pep has already made it clear that he doesn't rate Mangala and Denayer, and Tosin isn't ready so I don't see he's stated anything new or ****ish tbh.

So tosin, mangala and denayer are not cb's currently under contract at city? Not being funny just confused

Here the clip mate....last minute of the highlights from the presser..

Tosin isn' ready. I don' know how many times it needs saying, but Mangala is not, has never been and never will be a Pep player. I swear some people forget who our fucking manager is sometimes.

Based on that, his comments were spot on. That leaves 3 centre backs, one of which is injury prone and up until recently has been made of glass.

We need a CB. Period. Preferably one who knows the league, and who is left footed, and doesn' mind sitting on the bench.

Nothing to be confused about. If you want to make it black and white, then contractually there are more than 3.

But then you know that's not what Pep meant, and if you can't see his point and that Mangala/Denayer don't have a future then there is only one person being ****ish and it ain't pep.

Can you point to the post you made about signing Stones, before he signed for neverton, what with it being a no brainer and all that?
It wasn't addressed at me, that one. However shouldn't the ordinary fan have licence to use a smidgeon of hindsight? It's hardly a level playing field against professional coaches, with all of their time and resources.

The big question which no-one seems to want to answer is If Mangala is so shit why the fuck did Txiki buy him for over 30 million?
