For a player that could hold his own in the City team if he goes then £25M does seem a tad cheap as he's better than a few they've got IMHO.

If Boro can rate Gibson at £30 million, Stones cost £50 million or whatever, then Evans is easily in the best 10 defenders in the Premier and would in my opinion command a fee comparable and equal to either of those mentioned. I cannot believe that our lot would settle for less.


If true it'll be 25m plus 5m. Take it I say. He's been a Rolls Royce of a defender bur it was only a matter of time before someone bigger and richer came in. Given his age and injury record (which will only get worse) it's time to sell big.

Interesting, here's a sentence from an article when Arsenal were after him last year. "Arsenal have reportedly been told by West Bromwich Albion that they will have to pay £25m in order to sign defender Jonny Evans".
I hope it falls through because this guy is hard to replace for many reasons, experience, composure, reading the game etc

on that web site some says deal done £25m

Pep knows way more about Evans than LVG apparently who deemed him not good enough for a possession based team.

Indeed they did and maybe they would have been better off signing Evans I don't know. I am not a huge enthusiast myself but was responding to a post saying that Arsenal (and other teams) hadn't attempted to sign him.
I haven't actually looked at him that closely to have a particularly strong opinion either way.

Exactly what makes me laugh on this forum is the amount of hate because he's played for Man shite,who cares if he puts on a blue shirt he becomes a blue,didn't tevez play for them however there's no mention of that,not saying for one minute Evans is tevez,however they did wear the same shirt end of argument really

Stones is a young player which potential that's why we paid so much for him which is why he's worth a lot more than Jonny fucking Evans. Evans is shit end of story hope we don't buy him.

There are of course other opinions. My Northern Irish mate, whose opinion on footballing matters I value, and who as a Rangers fan has no inbuilt bias on the subject, believes Evans is seriously underrated, is very comfortable in possession and has reasonable pace - not a flier, but not a slouch either - and Claretconk was genuinely surprised when Van Gaal sold him. He isn't ideal, but he's far from a car crash either. We need cover, and he'll do for me if Pep thinks he can do a job. Personally I don't think it matters that much who we have in there, cos the way we defend we could kidnap Franz Beckenbauer and Franco Baresi, force them to drink from a fountain of eternal youth, put them both in sky blue shirts, and we'd still struggle to keep a clean sheet
