I was thinking about this yesterday—and it is by no means scientific—but who was last midfielder to come from Serie A (Italian or not) and have success in the Premier League?

I suppose maybe Coutinho, if you actually class him as a midfielder, but I think that is a bit of a stretch.

I am thinking of the disappointments like Pogba, Aquilani, Veron, Ramirez, Muntari, de Roon, Dossena, and so on (looking back, a lot of United and Liverpool flops there).

I think most have been bad fits style wise and Pogba was simply overpriced and it's gone to his head.

David Pizarro wasn't bad and I'm still gobsmacked we didn't sign him permanently.
