Jose for City? (merged)

Dennis, a whole series of "ifs":

"If" Mancini left and "if" Mourinho came and "if" he won the league and "if" he was holding that trophy up in Albert Square.

I put it to you not a single one of the 100,000 City fans there will think "It would have meant more if Jose wasn't holding it up".

In fact I put it to you the opposite is true. At the moment we still get laughed at, the media love to paint us as the cock up kings. A figurehead like him is exactly what the club needs fighting our corner.

The question is, if that happened, would Albert Square be a sea od blue and would we have learnt a choreographed dance?

As I've said, I want to keep Mancini but if Jose wants to come then I would be happy to know we would win something for sure.

With Mancini I could see us being successful (though I would consider Arsenal to have been "successful" during the past 6 years but they have won nothing)

I agree. I don't know if he feels we're locked in to be a major force. I think he as is his usual wants someone that has the level of football he wants locked in before committing.
So we may be in a very strange position where we get top 4 - then sack Mancini as Jose will only take over a top 4 club.

Or finish 5th and have to keep Mancini as Jose won't come and there's no one better available.

That would be typical City to be honest so I will buy it.
The situation is intriguing to say the least. I will say I'm impressed with the job Mancini has done in light of everything, and I do expect if he stays we will improve over the next two seasons greatly. That said, I've never made secret of the fact I think Mourinho is my first choice and if we can get him, we should. My only hesitance is twofold. If we start improving rapidly next year as is quite possible with the new players having had a year in the system and if Balotelli starts fully realizing his potential and the signs are there that he's buying into City, then we should not upset this particular apple cart. Talents like Balotelli only come along rarely and as much as I love Mourinho, he failed with Balotelli as far as I'm concerned.

Pretty much spot on with this one mate, I do think that if Mancini fails to get us into the champs league he will get the boot and Mourinho would never com if we cant offer champs league, so right now no matter what people want we should concentrate on getting into champs league.

That's one take on it, Zin, and I can see why you think that.

I don't believe it personally, I don't think that's how he operates. But it's just two differing opinions based on the same set of facts.

'If' it is all time and place, we are certainly fucked again because i believe he will win the champs league this year for Real, which would elevate him to god like status with the gringos and make it nigh on impossible to leave.

Totally disagree, I think its quite the opposite, winning the Champs league means hes more likely to walk away.

Re: Jose for City?

Dont shoot me I'm only the piano player but while out and about in the car this afternoon whoever was on Talksport with Ian Wright said that it was nailed on that Jose Mourinho would be in charge at Manchester City next season..

God lets hope so!

Re: Jose for City?

If Mancini gets us into the CL he deserves a crack at it. You don't sack people for reaching targets. Couple of top quality additions in the summer and we can really challenge for the league next year. We're only 7 points off the top now and yet reading this forum you'd think it was closer to 20

What a ridiculous assertion. How can we be sure Mourinho would "win something for sure"? He's not exactly winning trophies with Real, is he? And there, he is moaning because he is not winning, so what's to bet he wouldn't try to jump ship on us after 6 months, too? Goodness knows he has it 100x easier at Real than he would have it here.

And how long would he be with us before he moved onto the Portugal job?
