I think this could also be a way to get Kalvin in the team (instead of Kovacic), Rodri could drop into the back 4 out of possession, given that he plays CB for Spain and has done it at times for City as well.

He is a good and maybe very good. But is he necessary? For me no: City has already top, top CB. Spend 100m if you have already Ake and Akanji is crazy.

They wouldn't do it without a plan in place.
