Difference between West Ham are front runners and West Ham have a deal
In place for 14m. Again whether he jumps the gun or not he usually is right in the end and his is meaningful rather than just waiting for the club to say you can announce it now and in the meantime using buzz words like ‘front runners’ and ‘interested’
Romano didn’t say West Ham have a deal, he said they are “closing in on a deal”, which is about the same as Minay tweeted.

I think you don’t understand the meaning of the briefing yesterday. It’s not about whether Minay is trustworthy or why didn’t Gaughan say anything. It’s that the club wanted to put out a denial of agreement but more specifically of a medical. It seems like a legal protection of sorts?

Agreement in Gvardiol poker with Man City
07/19; 7:55 p.m .: It has long been an open secret that Josko Gvardiol, 21, will move to Manchester City. The question of all questions has so far remained unanswered: How much money will the Skyblues transfer to Leipzig for the exceptional defender. According to LVZ information, an agreement has now been reached in contract poker. The Croatian defensive ace will clear the 100 million euro hurdle.

RB boss Max Eberl now found out firsthand that even the extremely rich Skyblues pay attention to the grades from time to time. The offers from England were increased bit by bit and very slowly approached the fee that the Red Bulls had in mind. Now the negotiating partners have reached a sum that both can live with. According to information from the LVZ, the basic amount is less than 100 million euros, but it will jump over the mentioned mark, bearing in mind the realistic-looking, success-related additional agreements.

This makes the Croatia international the most expensive defender in the world to date. The deal is only perfect and on record when Gvardiol has passed the medical check and signed with the English champions and Champions League winners. Gvardiol came to Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in 2021 and leaves a lot of fans and lots of money there. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported first.

Fabrizio said West Ham and city have reached a verbal agreement for 14m. That is more than West Ham being a front runner. It is the same as saying city and Leipzig have reached a agreement on a fee for Gvardiol. Im not saying minay is not trustworthy and as you suggest it’s likely he is just relaying a club message. However- the fact that Fabrizio has the detail on the borges deal and JWE rather than just a suggest of interest from those clubs would suggest that his info on the Gvardiol deal is solid also.

You guys do know that it's possible for more than one person to have contacts? According to TH on Twitter Fabrizio gets most of his info from agents rather than the clubs.
