Someone missing the mark by that much should be stripped of all credibility and certainly not given a wider platform. The problem is there's no accountability. You want to make some idiotic public statement like "Not in my lifetime" then when it blows up in your face we latch on to it and rub it in your face forever. For example every time a City fan calls into TalkShit when Rory is on they should include a "How's Erling doing these days?" in their hello. It would embarrass him and certainly get under his skin. And he'd fucking deserve it. Anyone can make a bad prediction or assessment especially in sports but when it's done with an obvious agenda to rankle and is absolutely absurd the payback should be merciless. Romano didn’t say West Ham have a deal, he said they are “closing in on a deal”, which is about the same as Minay tweeted.
I think you don’t understand the meaning of the briefing yesterday. It’s not about whether Minay is trustworthy or why didn’t Gaughan say anything. It’s that the club wanted to put out a denial of agreement but more specifically of a medical. It seems like a legal protection of sorts?

Fabrizio said West Ham and city have reached a verbal agreement for 14m. That is more than West Ham being a front runner. It is the same as saying city and Leipzig have reached a agreement on a fee for Gvardiol. Im not saying minay is not trustworthy and as you suggest it’s likely he is just relaying a club message. However- the fact that Fabrizio has the detail on the borges deal and JWE rather than just a suggest of interest from those clubs would suggest that his info on the Gvardiol deal is solid also.
