Firmly in the camp of telling leipzig to fuck off at this point. What a fragile message coming from the club. We don’t like leaks to the media so now we’re not going to do your little deal. lol. Fuck off and time to move on

Frankly ball should be in gvardiols court. How bad do you want it? Mahrez wanted it so bad he sat out of a match and didn’t train. Time to force your hand if you want it. Otherwise off to an inferior club next year.

It’s not going to fall apart. The sad sacks who fucking camp on this thread day and night looking for anything to whinge and whine about might like to give us the impression that City are useless but I doubt anyone with any grasp of reality takes their needy fucking nonsense seriously.
The way I look it is, I want him here because he's an exceptional talent, and i think we'll get him. But if we're getting him, get him ! if not, don't waste weeks of time n effort which could be used on back up deals. I've got a feeling Laporte isn't coming back from Japan, I think he's desperate for playing time so we will need cover. If Walker goes too then we'll definitely need someone in, so either get the deal done, or fuck Liepzig off and go elsewhere. Just my humble opinion.

Missing out on your 3 top targets (Bellingham, Rice, Gvardiol) while also failing to keep 2 players you offered new contracts to (Gundo, Walker) definitely qualifies as a masterclass of a window no doubt
See how window ends eh.
very weird how defensive some people here on simple facts like "it sucks that we miss out on good players" like it's some sort of attack on them
it’s the same fucking posters over and over again. People get defensive because the whinging cunts try and make out as though the club is a shambles in the transfer market,
Slow to give credit but all over any opportunity to have a go.

i don’t think it’s as simple as that. leipzig are so successful cause they give the talented but inexperienced young players the chance to play a lot, european competitions included. top clubs don’t have that “luxury”, too much at stake.

lukeba played 2 seasons of senior football, he’s 20. gvardiol at 21, four seasons, a lot of minutes (as in he wasn’t just an option on the bench), played his first big international senior tournament at just 19, the world cup at 20 where he and our gk were the only players that played every single second of all 7 games. the best player of our national team in the wc, and luka modrić was there. and he won the bronze medal with a team that basically doesn’t have an attack, yeah it was ugly but they never ever give up, that’s not only valuable experience but also an excellent lesson in what people like to call being a mentality monster. he has 6 club trophies in 4 seasons. not as fancy as the ucl for example of course, but they still have to step on the pitch, fight and win to get them.
He is one of a kind obviously and that is the reason we are heavily invested in this. But not all dreams come true in football, especially the transfer market.

Unfortunately with us it’s happened on numerous occasions. Not entirely our fault, when the selling clubs are aware of us having money, they use it to their advantage to milk every extra penny from the deal. Hence a player can be a generational talent, ultimately, it will come down to minor details of whether the deal is done or not. Thankfully, contingency plans are always in place and that is why we’ve been as successful as we have over the past years. Gvardiol is my dream signing for the window but the season is not far from starting and we have to get things sorted quick.

Not as good, obviously. Not even close to being half as good, I'd wager. Why can't we give Pep the best? He's requested Gvardiol, and that's the player we should be signing.
I’d say that’s a stretch. Laporte is probably leaving, and we’re gonna replace him this summer. Gvardiol is obviously the big name, but if it falls apart (which I don’t think it will), you’ll have to look elsewhere and there’s a reason why Leipzig is targetting Lukeba. Their recruitments are mostly on point. According to people that have watched him more than me, Lukeba is better than Gvardiol was when Leipzig signed him. I’m very certain Leipzig would be able to sell him on for at least €70m, possibly even next summer. Lukeba is one of the best U21 CBs in the world, he’s not exactly some bum.

I’m fine with whatever happens on this one. I’d obviosuly have Gvardiol over Lukeba just to make that clear, but we’ll also be fine if we miss out. Gvardiol would probably have pushed Ake out of the team, who’s been absolutely brilliant this season. I’d be very fine with a back 3 of Ake-Dias-Akanji/Walker with Stones and Rodri further up the pitch. No reason to flap. We just won the treble, and have several world class CBs. Gvardiol would improve us loads, but winning trophies will not solely depend on whether we sign him or not. Next summer there could very well be another Gvardiol on the market
