we play a 4 CB system and pep doesnt trust Laporte in it, 80% of the time. add in Ake/Stones injury records. Could argue we need 2 if Walker & Laporte goes.

I said surplus with all the wage spending accounted for. we are swimming in cash surplus. if our board cannot get Gvardiol then the entire board should resign in shame. we are at the pinnacle of football with a treble and we are getting pushed around by nobodies like arsenal and RB leipzig. if they cannot do their jobs and act like a big club then fukin resign.

Absolutely none of what you said is relevant to the deal.

They still have an agreement for Lukeba and Geertruida, but would like funds up front to make sure those deals are sorted,…..

Which club could potentially do that unless City actually pull out of the race?…. So who’s this mystery club able to offer them that money?…..

I’m very confident he’s ours. But if not, he’s not moving elsewhere any soon, that release clause is way too high, they’ll simply have to sell him under the release clause value, we’ve seen that aplenty in La Liga and Serie A. No rush whatsoever.

Do RB have an agreement with Lukeba the player, or his club? I know they don’t have an agreement with his club Lyon. A rhetorical question, Do you think RB prefer to have Gvardiol or Lukeba?

12 months ago no one could foresee that a club from Saudi Arabia could make a serious offer for Bernardo. 12 months is a long time in football. To think that no one could buy out Gvardiol clause next year is folly.

Just to make it clear I like Gvardiol very much and hope we sign him. I mentioned him on here as a player we should go for 18 months ago.

And likely 4 of those will be on the field at the same time. 6 for 4 spots makes sense. I think this "centre half" notion doesn't really fit either, Stones is effectively a holding midfielder (something I suspect they will try with Gvardiol as well), Ake is a LB, Akanji is a psuedo right back with stones inverting.

Think it's better just to label them defenders, assuming Cancelo is gone, and Walker looks likely to move, we'd have 7 defenders counting Gvardiol and Lewis.

yea FIFA will be more realistic than what we have now. city treble winners having a negative net spend while the likes of aston villa are spending 100s of millions improving their team while we are penny pinching for a few millions for a generational talent.
