You got me. :(Roger you were talking bollocks then

Absolutely none of what you said is relevant to the deal. Those who are expecting us to announce if we pull out of the deal are not being realistic. We are not in a race for his signing this summer, we are not up against any other team apart from RB his current team. We don’t need to announce we are pulling out. They are upset with how the deal has been handled and have basically put the deal back at square one as they hold the cards.
RB wanted LCB Lukeba from Lyon to replace Gvardiol as Lyon have basically been told they need to sell this summer. They made an offer that fell short. Lyon despite needing to sell are still holding on to players, Lukeba, Cherki, Barcola. CFG signed Lyon’s other LCB Ndiaye and sent him to Troyes. This has made signing Lukeba a little bit more difficult for RB. Three clubs are also interested in Barcola. City to replace Mahrez, PSG who have made an offer but Lyon do not want him to go to PSG although the player is keen, and RB were also interested in him, I think now they have Xavi Simons from PSG the need for Barcola is lessened.
I believe another club has been in contact with RB and verbally agreed to pay the buyout clause next year and asked RB not to sell him this summer and since that suits RB the signing has been stopped, whilst they reevaluate. They know there will still be a strong market for Gvardiol next summer and they never wanted to sell him this summer in the first place.
City can still do a deal for Gvardiol but basically no negotiations, all on RB terms.
Just get Pep the CB he wants ffs. He's just earned us enough in prize money alone to not need to be pissing about.
Who on here said we had like a 300mil war chest before player sales, because that's clearly bollocks lol
Hardly.... were in negotiation for a 85m cb, put a 90m bid in for rice and bought Kova.Who on here said we had like a 300mil war chest before player sales, because that's clearly bollocks lol
so what? we have insane surplus form our academy sales and a lack of incoming costs in past 2 years. we are swimming in cash surplus. Those 300m is not warchest having earned the prize money pool from treble last season and not all of those will be spend on transfer market.
I think what he said is broadly relevant, as is your take.Absolutely none of what you said is relevant to the deal.
They still have an agreement for Lukeba and Geertruida, but would like funds up front to make sure those deals are sorted, as Nkunku and Szoboszlai don’t sort it alone for them, have them comfortable for FFP, not in terms of incomings, hence they’ve done a lot of loan/cheaper deals. They’ve also spent a chunk of that money on Openda (40m), CB (20m). Leipzig got Xavi sorted as Szobo replacement, they never really wanted Barcola (winger and different profile). All their business is direct replacements to fit Marco Rose’ vision.
Now, his buyout clause is more than what he could be sold for this year, so us wanting him ensures no one else enters the race and we get it done early for slightly lesser. Which club could potentially do that unless City actually pull out of the race? Madrid will be skint after Mbappe, Chelsea are sorted with Colwill, FSG are never spending 110m on a CB, Arsenal have Gabriel and Kiwior. So who’s this mystery club able to offer them that money? PSG? Even they have Kimpembe for now. At this price it is definitely us that want him and he wants us.
Your last statement is correct, and one that Txiki and co. would have known since January, they had a price, were never willing to negotiate, and it is up to us to get it done, maybe the payment terms can be sorted, if not the value. I’m very confident he’s ours. But if not, he’s not moving elsewhere any soon, that release clause is way too high, they’ll simply have to sell him under the release clause value, we’ve seen that aplenty in La Liga and Serie A. No rush whatsoever.
