I’m sorry but if this is true- what even is the point. They have made it clear what they want. They’ve already raised 150m euros in transfer sales so far this summer. They don’t need to sell him. I get we have our valuations and I have no issue with that I just don’t see the point in bidding under other clubs sale figures continually and then walking away when it was always obvious what would need to be paid to get it done
And, do you think it is true?

Ignore the media noise. The director of sport for Leipzig already came out and said we are negotiating with them. He wouldn't say that unless he was confident a deal would be reached. This will get done.

deciding what report is true and what isn’t is a minefield, but city do have previous for this type of negotiation tactic now- it’s got as much chance as being true as the more positive reports from last night- just cuz those ones were more positive doesn’t make them anymore true

City were negotiating with West Ham for rice and although Sullivan didn’t directly say it to the media he effectively put it out their through a number of his media friends. Just cuz we are negotiating with them doesn’t mean we have any intention of paying what they want- we had lengthy negotiations with Kane and cucurella also. He clearly stated that the deal would be done for a particular price that’s all he really said

Prefer Tolmie's take

I tend to look at it by thinking if they are negotiating, then there something to negotiate. No point getting worked up about it based on twitter

Beat me to it. Whilst they are talking progress is being made. Think this will get done and will include enough add ons to satisfy Liepzig.

What lengthy negotiations did we have for Kane? Pep said Levy wouldn't even take our calls. He wanted no part of a deal. The Cucurella scenario was completely different as well. There was another bidder in the mix.

We can't just show up and meet everybody's valuation right out of the gate. If we did that all the selling clubs would take us to the cleaners. We have to be disciplined in order to get good deals. Let Madrid's negotiation for Bellingham be your guide. Dortmund got slightly less than their valuation for him in the end. I suspect Leipzig will get something similar here.
