We are selling Jovetic to fund Bonys tranfer according to Daily Mail...Is it true ?

It doesn't say that.

It is possible that City may recoup some of the money by selling striker Stevan Jovetic - possibly back to Italy - before the end of the January transfer window but it is another deal that is enabling the Barclays Premier League champions to stay within UEFA restrictions handed down last May after the club failed to meet Financial Fair Play guidelines.

Re: Jovetic approached by Inter?

Pure speculation and sensationalism on their part......2 plus 2......

In fairness, imo,he would be the most likely 'sacrifice'.

I'd rather Kolarov though, except a replacement is another expensive issue.

Re: Jovetic approached by Inter?

IMO the only way we're selling Jovetic is if we want to sign another player outside of Bony this window.

Otherwise this kind of thing will happen in the summer.

Re: Jovetic approached by Inter?

"Approached by Inter"? Reading between the lines they would want him on loan with us paying 3/4 of his wages!

Re: Jovetic approached by Inter?

They'll need to wrap him in bubble wrap to get to the medical!

I like the lad, and if he stayed fit he'd be very good for us. However, can he stay fit?

Re: Jovetic approached by Inter?

Jovetic is a gem of a player, when fit. And sadly that's not that often.
He has a good goal/game ratio (1:3), but since he got here, he has just 32 appearances all in all, many of which were subs.

I like him, but would have no problem at all with seeing him sold.

I'd agree with this thought; especially as I think the replacement might be expensive and therefore cause us issues now in respect of FFP; unless we do a loan deal with a carefully constructed option to buy.

I find plenty to like about Jovetic but he is also very frustrating. I would like to think some of the frustrating aspects of the player could be managed out of him / improve with experience... but a return to Italy might be best for all concerned.

It is understood the decision by football director Txiki Begiristain and manager Manuel Pellegrini to pursue Bony was taken just 10 days ago and has been driven less by injury concerns over marquee centre forward Sergio Aguero and more by a growing feeling that third-choice striker Stevan Jovetic may be sold this month.

With Bony in the ranks, City will have to lose one player from a Champions League roster restricted by UEFA to 21 as punishment for breaching FFP guidelines. That player may well be Jovetic, who is attracting offers the club may well find hard to resist in the current transfer window.

UEFA’s punishment for City’s FFP breach also restricted spending to £49m net over this transfer window and the last. However, with UEFA allowing City to take an agreed £25m fee from Valencia for striker Alvaro Negredo, payable this coming summer, into account, they are comfortably within that margin.

Growing concern that he might be sold ...by themselves?

"oh no, I'm concerned that I might sell Jovetic in January, we've got to sign someone!"

If he were to be sold it'd be because of his injury record. It'd probably be in the summer too
