Meh, he's a third choice striker who can't play as a striker. If he goes it wouldn't bother me at all. To be honest, I think Marcos Lopes has shown just as much in the 3 or 4 games he's played for us as Jovetic has in the 20 or so he has, he's been here 18 months and has never been able to show himself as a consistently useful asset.

Except that he's not a striker and never was, that's why he can't play a striker.

Yet his role in our squad is third choice striker, so if he can't play striker then he's the wrong man for the job.

I don't know what is it that I don't get. Jovetic is not a striker and therefore he's not our third choice striker. He's not a backup to Aguero or Dzeko (or Bony), he's a supporting forward for either of them in default case.

I'm still unsure whether he's the right man for the role although I'm a big fan of him, but I thought it's only Ladyman from the Daily Mail who would call him a 'third choice striker'.

Re: Jovetic approached by Inter?

Jovetic is a great player, one issue I have with him is that he hasn't really adapted to our current style of play yet but he has yet get a real run in the team.

Its like he needs to just slow it all down a bit and not try so hard to make something happen every time he gets the ball. He gives the ball away too often which is very risky as teams can counter us easily due to how we overload the attack.

He is best playing behind a striker as a goalscoring creator type player however he hasn't really been given the chance to do that yet, as Silva / Nasri provide a more controlled style of play that we seem to prefer if we play a player in the "#10" role.

I do think he can be an effective partner to Aguero / Dzeko / Bony (if he signs) in a 442 but he has struggled with injuries and never really got a proper chance to build any sort of partnership, which is why I think his flicks and tricks don't always come off as he is on a different wavelength to everyone else.

I would prefer to keep him as he is a good player and can fill in for multiple positions in the attack, the issue is that will he be injured when he needs to fill in for someone? That so far has been his biggest weakness.

Also just looked into his injury history, he was injured for less games in two seasons at Fiorentina following his return from the ACL rupture than his time with us so far. All muscle injuries since joining us. I feel we pick up a large amount of muscle injuries to our players, would be nice to compare our them to other teams.

Re: Jovetic approached by Inter?

if we can get a good cash from Inter, i'd say we should sell him off. good player, but will always spend most of his time on treatment table rather than the field. not his fault really, but we should not waste our precious foriegn quota in the squad with injury prone players.

Aguero, Dzeko & Bony are enough to fill 2 spot for striker position. if Pelle choose to play with 4-5-1 formation, we have other players can play in Jovetic number 10 roles - Silva, Nasri & Pozo.

Re: Jovetic approached by Inter?

Inter won't buy him, they just signed Podolski and Shaqiri.

Roma could be interested but with Italian clubs you're looking at loan with the option to buy.

I hope he stays a while yet but if they want to sell him, they should be on the phone to Peter Lim... Valencia are targeting attacking talent and have been linked with Lavezzi and Gaitan.

Re: Jovetic approached by Inter?

I can't help feeling disappointed in Jovetic. I honestly thought this was going to be his year, but I was wrong. I just don't think he suits our team. I still think he can become a top class player, but not with us.
I'd be happy to see him leave for anything above £20M.

its a shame monaco went (or are going) out of business. there are very few clubs with the financial power (who sit below City) to offer good money for our cast offs. good thing Valencia is there

well, he cost us 22M. so i cant see us getting more than that.

15-16M is probably a realistic valuation even though I'd like us to hold off for 20M
