Juanma Lillo | Leaving the club before the CWC (p52)

I wonder if Gundo will have been asked to take a step back next season and become a player/coach? Then in 2026 he becomes Peps assistant for a year and gets the job when Pep leaves.
Would be better if it was just a coach to make space. Alternatively only be registered for the PL and train but not feature unless really needed.

BREAKING: #ManCity assistant coaches Carlos Vicens and Inigo Dominguez are both leaving the club in addition to Juanma Lillo, with Pep Guardiola driving a push for new voices/ideas to ensure he remains challenged and can continue to innovate.

Lillo did not have his #ManCity contract renewed, which expired at the end of the season, while the same decision was made on technical coach Dominguez. Vicens is due to become SC Braga’s new manager.

Great news Pep is the one who wants the back room refresh

Good luck to him. Obviously a decent assistant and influence, otherwise we wouldn't have taken him back.

As we rebuild the squad though, probably time to refresh the assistants to stop things from getting stale.

I hope we bring in someone with managerial experience and with the same football philosophy (but also new ideas) that could potentially take over from Guardiola in a couple of years time and not ex-players for sentimentality sake.

How about Zabaleta as assistant, and Fernandinho as coach?

I would think last season’s tendency to collapse in the second half of games would soon change if those two were back at the club.

Some of them have come in for a bit of criticism this season (who hasn't), but their importance to Pep cannot be understated. Clearly there have been some frank and honest conversations between all of them and new ideas are needed.

Pep is forever evolving and has always been reliant on figures who understand his nature and know how to deal with it.

I would expect him to already have an idea of who he wants in the role, and it will be interesting to see who now steps in. With them going before the CWC I would anticipate the new faces are already lined up.

Love the talk of Ferny and can see some potential in Xavi as well - which would undoubtedly help our midfield. What's Iniesta up to these days?

And what about Henry? Worships Pep and has done some coaching...wouldn't mind him in the dugout if only to piss on Arsenal's chips a bit more.
