Juanma Lillo | Leaving the club before the CWC (p52)

Would it be too bold to install a number 2 with a view to them becoming the main man when pep finishes?
De zerbi or similar?

Just wondered as I go to the match and can honestly say never really noticed what an assistant manager was doing on the bench - apart maybe from Malcolm Allison

In my day, the main role of the assistant coach was to hold the coach back when they were going to do something stupid.

Over the years I probably saved a few referees from getting a bloody nose or black eye, and kept my mate in a job!

Im not sure why all is this happens before the CWC, should make more player decisions before then as well well then. Just a lot of disruption when all are under contract already.

We score 1 in 100 set pieces anyway
Why the feck were they going to offer Carlos V a new contract?? We are absolutely shytee at set pieces.

We should do an arse to the Arse and get that Nicolas Jovier bloke back. He was here when we were semi OK on set pieces, but he got poached by those slimeballs.

Or take a punt on someone from Brentford/ Bournemouth/ Palace etc - a lot of these mid table teams are remarkably good at set pieces. And defensively for that matter. New faces should help because we are stale on set pieces and pretty woeful defensively - I'd love to see someone actually put in a tackle occasionally!!

Add me to that view - absolutely dire. Needs a real shake up with some creativity.
Don’t know about that first half of the season it was all arsenal and their set piece coach scoring from corners every week. Second half of the season it all dropped off and they hardly score any set pieces. Truth is teams are usually organised and work set pieces out and few set pieces lead to goals.

we often promote coaches from youth team, any brilliant youth manager maybe around?
or someone within CFG?

That's where you need some variation and not keep doing the same thing time after time, as Cyndi Lauper once sang.

How difficult can it be for a full time set piece coach to work out several corner routines, and some free kick routines around the box that could catch the opposition out.

All football contracts are end of June expired so if they went they would have to extend them beyond which could be disruptive and also hinder them getting new posts It also facilitates us getting the new team bonded
