It's the perfect way to do transfers. Jude and RM could well force Dortmund into a transfer.

Dortmund risk having a player on big wages and stinking up the dressing room otherwise.

Dortmund will be praying we are still at the table otherwise Real are going to strong arm them into a deal.
I have my doubts that Dortmund are easily forced into anything. Sancho allegedly tried it on and got to stay another season for his trouble. BVB are listed on the stock exchange, which means the directors and executives are subject to various legal obligations to follow good practice and deliver maximum value to the shareholders. The board will be stuffed with experienced people to make sure that happens. Moreover, they've been a selling club for a long time. They'll have all their strategy and contingency planned out for this deal.

This looks like their one big sale this year, and they have at least two bidders. If Real are serious that this is their one big deal, then it starts to look like their need is for BVB to sell to them places them under greater pressure than BVB, who simply need to find a deal with one of several buyers, with JB's approval.

So the story, the briefing, actually looks largely like bluster. It's sort of an attempt to spin that situation in the eyes of onlookers. It also clearly serves the purpose of distracting from a poor end to Real's season. This story arrived the weekend after Real lost the cup final to Barca, who were also days away from winning the league. The same week Real came into the CL Semi vs us priced as outsiders.

Perez wants the Real media and fans thinking positively, lest the unhappiness starts to take hold, and people focus it in his direction. He's got good reason to, having, in the early days of his latest presidency, allowed the stories about Mbappe and Haaland being in the bag to run free - only to return without either. No way he wants the end of season post-mortem to arrive for fans and media, without a believable signing in their head to focus on. Rather than last summer.

All this history suggests that there is at least a small chance that Perez is blustering wholesale - that he intends to negotiate for as long as possible, before announcing he could not agree what BVB required.

That's if City fight him for it. I have some small feeling we might think that was not be our best option. So, a good bet by Perez? Possibly. But the fact that Real have acted in such a way this far places pressure on the BVB board to show shareholders that they won't and can't be bullied, or strong armed. He's more or less incentivised them to make his life difficult. He may even have accounted for that, and think in fact that provides him with useful potential outs if things get tricky.

Dont really care if he goes to Madrid because at this point I think Pep has found perfection with this very strong defensive back 5 with 5 attackers in front.

Buying Gvardiol, Rice, or Caicedo as defensive options is far smarter for us.

We have good attackers, and the youth (McAtee, Bobb, Mebude, Palmer) can supplement easily.

The end of Northcroft's piece on Gundogan extension.

Definitely doesn't sound like a player quite as desperate to move to Real as the Spanish press would have you think.

Content to run down his deal if neither side pay up but we know that City would if it was on the table.
And Real are only 'understood' to be in the box seat.
I think it's clear he wants us and we want him but we are not going to pay 120m and for that matter neither will Madrid.

Either Dortmund compromise with maybe a loan of one of our young stars (McAtee) or he has to stay for another season.
