For a few years now Ive kept an interest in Liverpool, it started because my sister-in-law supports them and likes to give it out and I also have a few mates who regularly attend Liverpool games. It's been a source of amusement to me that over the past few years they believe they have been getting closer to the Rags and will challenge for the title. Fair enough they've given it a go this season but I still said a few weeks ago that I predict they will finish a minmum of 12 points behind United by the end of the season and I just can't see Gerrard staying at Anfield for the rest of his career and then they really will be fucked. I find them to be one of the most boring sides to watch considering the supposed quality they possess.
All this begs the question is the Premiership really all that difficult to mount a serious title challenge? I would argue United are out on their own and way ahead of the chasing pack. Chelsea will probaby pick it up again next season but I would argue that if we spend wisely then if Liverpool and Arsenal represent the best on offer after United then I think we can challenge those two next season. This is not based on todays result because I genuinely think the rest of the challengers only just have a little more quality than the rest to remain more consistent but nowhere near enough to challenge United. Add a couple of quality players to our current squad and I think at the very least ourselves and Villa can push Liverpool and Arsenal out of the top four next year, if we can manage to find the right quality within the next two seasons I honestly can see no reason as to why we can't then take it to United and Chelsea (I'm giving Chelsea the benefit of getting it right).
