Re: judy garland's ding dong the witch is dead, no 27 in charts

As a 21 year old i've got no issue with Maggie, my dad wasn't a minor etc... So my question is that people are openly celebrating her death and it seems to be accepted... So when fegie dies (someone who i have grown up hating) i bet that it won't be accepted if i were to party about that would it?

i.e whats the difference? - I do think that partying or being happy when someone dies its pretty classless though.

Much as people on here detest him - with good reason - when all is said and done he's only a footie manager; he hasn't sent anybodys kids off to war, or been pals with any dictators, or implemented policies which caused families hardship & unemployment (as some would argue)
Big difference to me.

PS, Glad to read your dad wasn't a minor ;-)

I am disgusted if this is the case. An old lady dies, with Grandchildren, and a lot of sick people 'celebrate' by buying this record.

This is the sort of society that we now live in is it?

Bloody disgraceful.

And no Stony, it is not "funny as fuck".

Cos she was old frail and had family??

She's led a full life, and I'm sure had a good one; don't feel for her or her family - they'll be ok I'm sure.

I'm def not saying she was these things, but sometimes people who have done the most evil vile things during their life end up being 'old ladies & gents', and sometimes they have had kids, and have grand kids too.
Whatever views people have of Mrs T or this record, it shouldn't be about that surely?

(or have I just been caught hook, line & sinker?)

24 years ago? A society that 'she' created? Nothing has happened in the mean time? No one has influenced this country since? Not Blair? Not Brown? Not Major? None of them?

The society we now live in was not 'created' by one person but by a multitude of people from politicians to the media with normal people in the middle. We are all responsible.

The trouble is, it's far easier to blame someone else, rather than take some of the blame yourself.
