Julian Draxler

Would that be dismissed out of hand?

So much for Germany keeping its stars/players.

If City pay what they ask they go and it really is that simple.

No need to make fun out fo you. I think LC makes a good point, you germans take a stance of looking down your nose at us. Be it Bayern or BVB. Fact of the matter is it's fear.
You dont get it. Schalke ask for nothing as they made it clear that he isnt for sale. Is it so hard for you to understand? They can sell him later when the contract is running down, but there is no need to sell him now.

Also City is no Bayern, Real or Barca..that are the dreamclubs of most Germans and not City, where the chance is high that you sit on the bench cos the management buying or selling players like changing underpants.

Then this looking down arrogant German nonsense. The young talents mostly planning a very sensible career so moving to City would be madness. Money isnt priority No. 1, the perfect sporting development is, so the players will stay at their clubs until there are ready for a big move AND the club is ready to sell them. Schalke is not ready to sell and Draxler is not ready to move..very simple.

Oh behave will you! The thing is players have flopped and been benched at big clubs. Money is a big motivator for club and player, so is the dream to play in the best league in the world at an up and coming club with huge drive and ambition. I reckon we are in a very comfortable position to get a bundesliga player :-)

to be fair he does make "some" good points. You kind of described Schalke there. I know they arent on the same level, but I wouldnt really understand why Draxler would leave them at the mo.

Think he will end up in spain or stay at schalke, kind of like gerrard at liverpool.

For example, how do you know in the event City bid £20million for Draxler, Schalke might not say: "Well, that is a lot of money and we have a great young replacement who has broken into the first team picture this season, so let's take the money and strengthen our squad elsewhere and give Meyer a chance."? Do you know with 100% certainty this scenario might not play out?
Well, I can guarentee you, that they wouldnt say 20m is a lot of money, but they would probably laughing out loud. They got 25m for Neuer with just one year left.

Why did Schalke sell Holtby 6 months early for a small fee (that won't make a big difference in the long run) while still hoping to qualify for the Champions League. Holtby had 4 goals and 7 assists in 18 starts yet Schalke decided to pocket £1.5m - how much will they lose if they don't qualify for the Champions League? Suggests to me they are a club that are open to selling players as they were quick to bank £1.5m as opposed to lose Holtby on a free transfer.
That move was indeed controversial, but Holtby was playing crap the last games and as you said his contract was running out, so they decided better getting few bucks before getting nothing. Draxler has contract until 2016, thats why i said there is no chance to get him before 2014.
And as you mentioned Meyer..he is the next big thing IMO and Schalke have some more promising youngsters like Avdijaj, Torres, Kolosinac and so on. Thats one reason why i can see Schalke closing the gap to Bayern and Dortmund..they just have to make some smart moves. IF they want to generate some money to optimize the squad, then they can just sell Papadopoulos, as they have two good CB in Höwedes and Matip. The fans would run riot if Draxler would get sold.

Gungodan's father recently delayed contract talks - why? Maybe he wants to sound out interest from abroad, in which case do you think Dortmund would shun a mouth-watering offer (say £28million) for someone who has eyes on a move abroad?
I am well aware of that situation, thats why i said that IF he doesnt extend his contract, there is a big chance to get him in 2014. IMO he will extend his contract soon, as he is very happy at Dortmund.

Maybe but know one knows yet till someone sounds him and schalke out with an offer. Just look at ajax i know the league isn't much but they are a big club and local lads do leave to develop and follow there dreams. Gerrard was almost tempted by chelski......

I have never said, that in general no top player of Bundesliga is gettable. I just named the ones, that City have no chance to get.

Now we come to the names mentioned:

Dzeko was playing for Wolfsburg and they kept him for quite a while right? The club had implemented a clause (32m) so they couldnt do anything to keep him longer and TBO it was a very good price. The time was just right to get him.

Mertesacker had just one year left and played for Werder Bremen. Bremen is in a terrible financial state and they were praying to god to get good money for him. Everybody at Bremen was very happy with that deal. He was 27 by the way a good age to make a foreign experience.

Podolski had also just one year left and cologne got relegated. Poldi wanted to leave so of course there was nothing Cologne could have done. His age was also 27.

Kagawa had, what a surprise, also just one year left. EPL was his dream from the beginning, as most Japanese watch it. Dortmund couldnt do anything to keep him.

Holby had just 6 months left and he also has always dreamt of playing in EPL.

Ba was acting like a total moron as he simply refused to go back to Hoffenheim and go on a strike instead..a 1st class mercenary and of course Hoffenheim had no choice but to get rid of him. He was no superstar here btw.

Hargreaves..what can I say. It was the best deal ever and a lot of Bayern fans were shocked, when Bayern denied that move in 1st place for that kind of money. 6 Months before the WC in Germany his contract was running out and United could have snapped him for nothing, but nobody approached him even Bayern were not in a hurry to extent..thank god SAF tried again the following year.

It will be hard for you to find a good example, where a top German club sold a promising youngster for a reasonable amount and without contract running out.

Its seems rather naive to suggest that players who run their contracts down to a year or so haven't decided to do that in order to get away from these great clubs and the wonderful Bundesliga.

You should look at it in a different way. If you want to leave a top club in Germany, then you have to run down your contract, otherwise the club wouldnt sell the player.

Nostradamus is being a bit obtuse but he seems right enough about this player. I'm sure there's a sum that would make them think about selling, but given their control over the player and that they apparently rate him, it would probably have to be a much larger sum than 20m, there's just little upside in it for them.
