Just a bit of fun for the pre-derby nerves.....

Motown is where I am from. Detroit, Michigan.

Motown also means Motown Music, which I love. You know, kind of the inspiration for Northern Soul. I consider it a spiritual tie to the city of Manchester. And last time I checked, there was only one football team playing IN the city of Manchester.

CTID!

tell me to fuck of if you like but wouldnt motor city been a good user name ,

i`ve got lots of old motown record, but they were new when i bought them. it was great music in its day.

Having been a city supporter long before any takeover, I didn't feel anyone around me understood what it meant to be in a relationship with typical city...most people in the states are manure fans, and there has been one too many false dawns over the years.

I don't post too often I just monitor, however the first thing I look at is the names of the posters some really funny ones on here. So how did you pick your Bluemoon name. Mine is simple 'Bovril' I chose it coz standing in the Kippax late 70's on a cold and dreary February I always looked up to the corner of Platt Lane roof which had a huge billboard with Bovril on it, funny how you remember things.

i don't post too often either but i read several threads most days
i just enjoy reading other people
there are some very funny posters on here

i used to post regularly on the m.u.e.n. boards a few years ago
when people were really worried about the future of the club
and generally very uncalm
so my username then was calum down
and i couldn't think of a better one for bluemoon

what day is it!

it's time to get drunk.

how nice that you remember the baudelaire stuff...

we should always be drunk
that is the be-all and end-all
the only choice there is
to no longer feel the horrible burden of time
which racks your shoulders and bows you downwards to the earth
you must make yourself ceaselessly drunk
but drunk on what?
wine
poetry
virtue
whichever you prefer
only - get drunk!
and from time to time
whether on a palace stair
or in the green grass of a ditch
or in the gloomy loneliness of your room
you waken with your drunkenness wearing off or already gone
then ask the wind and the waves
the stars or the birds or the clocks
whatever is fleeting
whatever moans or spins or sings or speaks
ask them what day it is
then wind and wave and star and bird and clock will answer you
"it is time to get drunk!"
so
as never to be the martyred slaves of time
get drunk without respite
with wine or poetry or virtue
whichever you prefer

CRICKET???? CRICKET???? How can you 'support' cricket?????

"Oh look nigel, our fellow is about to throw the ball at the chap with the stick" "Indeed, Theo i do hope their fieldsmen don't catch it." "Oh and another thing, it's a little chilly this morning, i bet they are glad for the jumpers"

PHILISTINE!!!!

An iconic Manchester pub, knocked down accidentally in the 80s.

The word was it wasnt 'accidently'. The brewery (Whitbreads?) wanted it down but the council had it as a listed building so were against it or something. So it was knocked down during the night 'accidentally'.
p.s. used to drink in Tommys before it became famous for knickers, in the fact that it was a favourite watering hole for all the acts who appeared at the Palace theatre and the like. Many photos adorned the walls of the acts who drank there. Bit like the Press club now i suppose.
