Just had my dog put to sleep...

Thanks to all for the kind words, time will heal, Rocky Dog is the only dog I've ever had, he was fourteen and half so he had a good innings. We got him from a dog rescue when he was six months old, he was always fit and well until the last year when arthritis began to set in. Treatment kept him out of pain until Monday, he sat down and wasn't able to get up again. Vets came round Tuesday morning and set him free from his suffering. Seeing him get excited when the vets arrived because there were visitors in the house was heartbreaking, I prefer to think he was excited knowing he was going to be pain free, he was very well behaved and went very peacefully. Christ I'm falling to bits again writing this. Anyway thanks to all again, here is the last picture we took of him, minutes before he departed.

Our beautiful German Shepherd who sadly we had to have put to sleep last week. She was almost 10 years old & had a condition called spondilytis which progressed so quickly it was scary. I'm just about getting over it, or at least can speak about her now without welling up so much. Still miss her though, think we always will
