Just heard-Fernando Llorente

Billy the Fish to replace Costillo Pantelimon if you can guess the contents of one of the brown envelopes 'Arry' received from one of his erm 'sniff, sniff' agents at their last meeting??

Even though this guy was WUMing, we're being linked with him now in Spain... he'd be a good signing but surely only if Dzeko left, I can't see us wanting two big target men.

Manchester City are lining up a bumper offer for Athletic Bilbao hotshot Fernando Llorente, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

The 26-year-old Spaniard is one of the most sought-after target men in Europe after his consistent form for Bilbao in La Liga.

Llorente has been linked with a Premier League switch in the past, with Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp understood to be a fan.

But now City have emerged as contenders to land the striker, who is out of contract in summer 2013.

It has been reported that the Premier League leaders would be willing to offer Llorente a £6m-a-year salary, more than doubling his current wage in Spain.

AS claim City have scouts have regularly watched the 26-year-old in action this season as he has netted 11 times in 18 appearances.

The 2010 World Cup winner was born in Pamplona and has worked his way through the ranks at Bilbao but it is understood that Llorente wants a fresh challenge.

With Carlos Tevez unlikely to feature for City again, Roberto Mancini currently has Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko at his disposal.

And the manager is tempted to sign a fourth forward in the summer as they bid to compete in Europe and the Premier League again next season.

In an interview with Esquire, Llorente paved the way for a move to Eastlands by saying: "I've been told many times that my style would suit the Premier League.

"I spoke about it with Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso and they told me the fans live for football in England, where there is respect for players and also the tradition that surrounds everything.

"Perhaps I will try it in a few years time but at the moment I feel at home in La Liga."
