Just how bad was Lee Bradbury?

I personally don't think he was all that bad.
When Royle starting playing him as a striker (his proper position) he did really well in his last dozen or so games for us.
Let's face it, just about our whole team was shocking at the time. I think he would have been half-decent for us given a real chance.
Royle fucked him over too, Bradbury went to him as he was living in rented accomodation to ask him if his future was with City because he wanted to buy a house, Royle said, yes of course it is, you are going to be here for some time. Bradbury bought a house and Royle sold him about 6 weeks after!

I was working over the Isle of Wight with his uncle when he got transferred to us. Lee got me tickets for a few games I wouldn't have got them for otherwise inc. Macclesfield away.
I'd say a mid table Championship side or a decent league 1 side is his level though.

Horrendously bad.

He wouldn't even be worth 3m in today's market, let alone back then.

For us he was poor quite a lot of the time, I think there was a bit of Steve Daley in him in that the transfer fee affected him too much because before he came to us ( think it was from Pompey) he actually looked a very good player, in fact Bradbury played for them against us shortly before the transfer and he gave our defence nightmares, was a real handful.

Felt a bit sorry for him personally, seemed like a decent down to earth lad, ex Army as well iirc, just didn`t work out for him.

Truly shocking.......although I seem to remember going to Burnley for a pre season friendly and many people were raving about him. Couldn't for any reason see why. Oh happy days

HHAHH, I was at that friendly. He scored a hat-trick and I came back to work on the Monday and said, 'mate, he is the next Alan Shearer'. I was young, dumb and fulla cum back then though, a naive 20 year old!! I have never lived that sentence down and I dare say I ever will!

Lee BADbury wasn't a good signing for us ...... to be honest he's struggled for goals at almost every club he's been at ..... even in the years after leaving us he played 63 games for Oxford , and only managed 9 goals ........ and how hard could it have been to score there?

And he's only scored 9 in 77 matches for Bournemouth over the past couple of years.

Under Clark he was seriously shocking. He improved under Joe Royle (but that says more about the manager than the player) but not enough to stop a deserved exit to Palace.

Nobody, I repeat NOBODY was worse than Alan 'I've got a World Cup Winners Medal me' Ball.

I disagree. I think Steve 'I can't take the pressure of managing a big club' Coppell was worst, for obvious reasons.
