Just met Thaksin

He took us over, invested money by paying on the never-never, and left us a few weeks from bankruptcy before selling to our new owners for more than what he paid.

He was a twat and we are glad to be rid of him. Check out the first part of the three part article in the Guardian to see how good our club was run under him.

He didn't go around scouting for the richest investors for the sake of the club, he did so to sell once he realised that running a Prem club costs money, and he didn't have any.

The new owners would have bought the club from Swales if needed, as they were on the lookout at the exact same time Thaskin wanted to sell. The stars aligned just right for us to recieve the gift of our fabulous owner and Chairman, it was nothing to do with the Thai Al-Fahim.

Those Thais are never gonna get him behind bars , are they?

Last i heard the Nicaraguans had hired him as some kind of ambassador , and now he shows up in a shopping mall in the Emirates ...... good for him , hope he stays one step ahead of them!

Comparing Thaksin to Al-Fahim is daft. Even his political enemies would not accuse him of incompetence.

I thought the whole world knew that Thaksin's time at City ran out when the Generals and their Monarchist paymasters reasserted their control over Thailand. They seized his wealth.

City got caught up in the political crossfire, but your version of events is just nonsense

I think Thaskin deserves a great deal of credit for what he did at City.

Ok by the end we were deep in the shit, but he put us back on the map.

He brought arguably the most high profile manager available at the time in.

He bought loads of quality players (what ever you say, the likes of Charlie, Elano, Rigsby, & Bianchi were better than the likes of Corradi, Samaras, Dabo, and Sun who were at the club at the time).

He managed to sell the club on in around a year.

Macintosh had tried & failed for five years to attract a single investor!

God knows where we'd be now if it wasnt for him......probably playing MK Dons today at a guess!
"And the award for the Post of the Day goes to Dale Blue!"

In thailand I would all her average!! There is something to be said about Thai women. If I had any brains I would live there and marry one who is a fanatical City supporter......wait a minute!!!!!

BTW if you see a girl thats just too pretty and over 5 foot 5, then "she" was probably born a man. Maybe she has bits, maybe not. To each his own I say.....

am I the only one who thinks the OP is bullshitting ?

why no photos ?
Not everyone feels the need to stick a camera in the face of every famous person they happen to meet in a shopping centre.

The Shinawatras live here so it's hardly the most outlandish claim ever made on this website.

Thank you Damocles. Thank you for being someone who realises how poisonous this man was. He raped our club of any value it had left for his own good back home, when the politics didn't turn out his way, and he was left with a club around his neck he was desperate to jump ship.

To say Dr Toxin 'led us' to Sheikh Mansour makes him (Toxin) out to be an astute businessman. He probably yelled out screaming and shouting too all investment circles that he was desperate to get rid of the club at any price, and the Sheikh probably saw the opportunity and took it.

Just reading his name sends a shiver down my spine.

....did you manage to have a discussion regarding his human rights record - or were you thankfully in the correct demographic at the correct moment here?

no photo's because I am 43 years old and a teen!

because I would never post my picture on this forum!

because I respect the Dr enough not to ask!

some people are never content, its not as if I said I just met Kaka and he said yes!

His legacy to MCFC is immense. I am grateful for that, albeit I'm pretty relieved he managed to help bring the Sheikh to City. Not sure I'm quite on his wave length in terms of his politics, but that's irrelevent anyway.
