Whilst I May sympathise with their cause if they think by their actions I will demand politicians reduce oil consumption/production they are deluded.
The way they are going about their protest is only likely to get me to write to my MP demanding the law is beefed up to stop them.
I struggle to comprehend how some people think it’s ok for them to act like they are doing.This isn’t an anti-fascist protest. The people suffering from their actions are not fascists - just ordinary people trying to get on with their lives. Poke the bear long enough and it will turn round and fucking bite you. The protestors indeed have the rights you describe, but they should also face realistic consequences of their actions - and I don’t mean arrest, criminal record. If they choose to “protest” by effectively waging economic warfare against their fellow citizens then their punishment should proportionate. For example, if they shut an airport, they should face the recovery of the costs of their actions…a few million quid - that would put a dent in their trust funds.
Oh come off it mate, we all know about the climate change topic. We don’t need some geeks with orange spray paint and hi viz jackets to remind us.I don’t think they’re particularly bothered about pissing people off, the very nature of disruptive protesting means that will happen with some.
Their aim is to keep the conversation going and be in the news and that’s clearly working.
