Juve away

On the off chance anyone's interested, the old fella passed in the early hours this morning. We've spent over 40 hrs by his bedside as he caught pneumonia, and we were told it’s only a matter of time.
We're lucky our mothers still around and they've been married 67 years, won't find too many who've reached that milestone.
Mams understandably in bits. Typing this full of beer and emotion.
No matter what age we are, when a parent goes and when you're very close to them it hurts
Took me to my first game at maine rd when I was 5 in 1964.
Have loved the journey ever since good and bad.
If the mods or whatever think this is a load of sentimental crap, just erase.
Heads in bits.

Condolences fella & rip to another blue joining the crew in the Kippax in the sky.

You made the right choice to bin the game. You'd have beaten yourself up so bad if you'd gone.

Portuguese and Slovak football doesn’t have the same issues with Ultras.

I think the draconian rules in Italy were brought in when a copper was kicked to death by a group of fans and there was several murders in the same season.

You don’t fuck around with the carabineri (national/military police) in Italy. They’ll batton you and ask questions later. You’re not going to be able to sweet talk them like you could over here. No fucks given whatsoever.
Yes I fell foul of these rules back in 2005 when I travelled over to watch Udinese v Panathinaikos in Udinese’s first ever Champions league match, so the regulation has been around a long time in Italy.

At the ticket office they refused to sell me a ticket even though I explained I had travelled from the UK for the match and explained the hotel had kept my passport in their safe as part of the checking in process. They ushered me to one side and advised they would speak to someone.

Twenty or so minutes later I was getting more and more frustrated until a bloke turned up and handed me my passport. I could not work out whether to be elated at this act of kindness or furious with the hotel for handing it over to some random on a scooter. Still it was a great occasion.

Sincerest condolences. Be happy you had that great relationship with your Dad.

Anyone who’s in Turin looking for something to do - you should go up to Superga where the Torino plane crashed in the 50s.

There’s a lovely little bar just down from the big church too. They were really friendly when they found out we were City fans who’d gone up to pay our respects.
We went up to the Basilica and the Superga memorial on Wednesday afternoon. Stunning crystal clear views over Turin to the Alps. Highlight of the day.

Did you go up via the old funicular? It’s incredible. I loved Turin with all its amazing piazzas (and pizzas). Much nicer than Milan. I was surprised as well as it’s not got the best reputation. Lots of Italian Job sights to see as well.

Enjoyed a good one day trip up to the game actually starting , we sat 2 rows back from front in upper tier , had to tell a few people to move because persistent standing at front glass barrier blocking our view
Then I was questioned how I got my tickets because I wasn’t recognised as one of the so called big points holders , and my loyalty questioned , my first game was Bert trautmann s testimonial 1964 I’m 71
Then after second goal some idiot assaulted my mate ( nutted ) for no apparent reason reason drawing blood City on City
Ended up with a bitter taste of actually following City aboard in future
Now, having witnessed the whole event with your mate, you are not telling the whole truth are you?? You've not mentioned the abuse your mate gave to a disabled woman SAT in front of you have you? "No apparent reason" You were questioned where you got your tickets from for a reason. Now the people involved know where and who you got them from!!! People overheard you after the game. It's not right that your mate got nutted, but hearing him say he was hit from behind for "no apparent reason" is nonsense. He was a pain in the arse all game, as you well know because you had words yourself. I've seen you at plenty of aways and wouldn't question your loyalty but don't dress this incident up as something else. Hope the experience doesn't put you off following City away/abroad.

So sorry to hear this blue.
We lost my wife's Dad in January to pneumonia and her parents had been married over 60 years too so I understand and empathise with what you're going through.
It's tough but the hurt will start to ease a little over time.
My deepest condolences in this difficult time.

Probably more like a couple of hundred fans, like myself and my 16 year old son who didn’t get in
Yes all us die hard City fans like myself who were refused entry to the stadium for committing the heinous crime of having a match ticket that didn’t match ze passport name and ze information
A lot of seriously disgruntled City fans who, like myself spent thousands getting over to Italy, time off work etc to be told by ze authority we are not allowed to support ‘our’ team
Thts it for me personally after 44 years of going here there and everywhere I am finished,I’ll never go again which is a shame as I have loved it but the love has gone, they have taken the enjoyment away from it
The next time I hear anyone mention empty seats or see Pep encouraging the fans to make noise I will go ballistic
They have built this great big stadium but the likes of me are not welcome
The club doesn’t want me
My post will probably disappear as a lot of my words are not welcome on this forum for some reason my opinion isn’t as welcome as others
Never mind having differing names on the ticket and I.D..........

We were held up for about 10 minutes by one belligerent brainless character who was trying to get in with no I.D.

His argument was:......

Why do I need I.D? My tickets got my fucking name on it!!
There's people in the queue that know me!
I'm getting in, I know my fucking rights!!
I'm not going anywhere until you cunts let me in!!
Get your fucking boss!!
I've never needed I.D. before.
Fuck your I.D check, I''m going in.

repeat ad nauseum...............

By law, you've needed I.D to get in to ANY football game in Italy for donkeys years.

No sympathy from me. You can't save stupid.

On the plus side,Turin was great - met and chatted to a lot of great Blues on the trip. Did the Basilica, Superga memorial, Stadio Olympico, Torino FC, and a photography exhibition of Italian football fan culture in the 1970's

3 sides to every story: yours, mine, the truth.
Doesn’t surprise me there was more to this than originally posted

The funicular was closed for repairs/renovation. We got on the 79 bus next to the funicular station (up in 2nd gear all the way).
