Juventus (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

We weren’t that bad. We just didn’t do enough. They took two chances and defended well.
True, but what’s galling is it took falling behind to give us the kick up the arse to get a few crosses and shots in rather than try and bore them into submission.

Of late our pressing has been ineffectual but we persist with it but then Gundo, Kev, Lewis simply don’t have the legs to recover.

We have to adjust our style with the players we have available to get out of this slump.

Ederson - dropping everything
Rico - shite at defending and offers little on the ball
Dias - trying to defend for 4
Gvardiol - out of form
Walker - past it...decides it isn't his job to stop the cross, like it wasn't his job to clear the corner on the weekend
Gundo - not got the legs to play the role
Grealish - meh
Doku - kept trying
De Bruyne - meh
Bernardo - meh
Haaland - has to believe the chance will come and keep on his toes. Couple of good balls came in and he was nowhere

We look fucking awful and sadly it feels like it's getting worse not better
Doku - pointed at a player he should have closed down before the first goal. That kind of shit is unforgivable.

Dias - looked good then fucked up for the 2nd.

The rest I agree with.

They won’t need to. Sit in, don’t concede (unlikely as we go from side to side, backwards, side to side and backwards again) wait for us to roll it to one of them, play the ball into the half way line on one wing and then wait for 7 City players to run over there like an under 11’s team, play the ball to the other side, and bingo, they’ll have a 5 on 2.
Then when they’ve scored, we will play like we’re 5-0 up and just walk about with the ball until we fall for that counter attack stuff, yet again….

I might not go now as I fear you’re right :)

Lose against the rags and I can see him walking.

We need to be mega vocal on Sunday and back the manager.

We can sell every single one of those useless embarrassments on the pitch for all I care but Pep needs our support.
Pep's been out greatest ever manager and it's up for debate as to whether he's the greatest manager ever, anywhere. But I think he is tired and hasn't got the energy required for the massive rebuild. Liverpool have improved this year not because Slot is a genius but because he is different.
The players need something different and I think the fans do too. Sideways City as someone pointed out earlier.

This is the result of signing average, mediocre players in recent years. Players with no real spark or standout quality. We believed KDB would stay at the top forever and didn’t plan ahead. The truth is, we’ve always been a team that revolved around one player: first in the David Silva era, then during KDBs prime. We hit the jackpot with those, but now it’s risky, and there’s no guarantee we’ll get it right again. Come summer, we’ll need to spend at least 400 million, no question. The problem is, real quality is so rare these days, most players are just workhorses now.

We looked good at times but we have become such an easy win for the opposition at the moment.
Everyone can see that we're getting caught on the break and conceding the same goal every fucking week!

Even the commentators are stunned.

If Pep doesn't trust the kids then we desperately need both right and left fullbacks, a DM and a striker in January.

We have a lot of sunshine fans on here. I'd love to see how they'd have coped with the late 1990s. Getting dicked 4-0 at home by Wimbledon, for example. Stockport coming to Maine Road, and Tony Dinning giving it the big 'un in front of the North Stand. I seriously doubt they were around back then, though.
Did we have 100m midfielders and the worlds best CF then??

The rebuild should have started last season
dont agree mate, there should be no need for a rebuild,we went wrong not intergrating the right players to the squad over the last 4 years and not buying players that would hit the ground running to replace the likes of Alvarez, 70/80 million for him and not a relacement in sight

Honestly? Slightly surprised at the vitriol over that performance.

Juventus are a decent side, not a great one. Their keeper made saves, ours threw one in the net. Simple as that.

Was it a good performance?

Fuck. No.

But it was better than Palace for my money. Better end product from Kev, Doku, Haaland and we come away with something.

We were never getting top 8 and we don't deserve to. A win against Brugge will send us through and from there, it's knockout football. A total lottery.

Yes but first goal Walker goes to close down then stops- basics

That was worrying,

Grealish and Doku were saved for tonight and they were completely ineffective.

Walker, been his biggest fan but on current form he is finished af this level.

De Bruyne still believing he's at his peak and the ball was just running away from him.

Nobody had a good game. Those fucking subs that came on better not start Sunday, as bad as we were they were fucking terrible.

Juventus weren't even good, but we had nobody busting a gut to clear the second ball. Both goals fucking school boy stuff.

There must be a reason we have kept half a dozen players we would normally have let go?
