Juventus (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Yeah but then walker brain farts and decides not to go to it. A player with his pace gets to that easily. Invited the cross in. There’s nothing upstairs with him.

Our captain ffs.
Walker had no chance to get to that, not that he would have tried to if he could.

A couple of thoughts
1. Our first team has been allowed to age..no real succession planning..Great youngsters binned off (e.g.Palmer)..I remember the same problem with an all-conquoring French rugby side some years ago.
2. Linked to this..injuries seem to have hit City over the last couple of years way more than any other top 6 side...what's going on?...are the conditioning team not up to it? Is it just the aging players' bodies or both ?
3 why the fook does Pep not seem able to coach a defence?
1) Yep
2) The issue with injuries is the amount of games they have played both club and country with too little recovery time
3) The defence is in the treatment table
4) Succession planning has ben poor

I thought he was ok. Laid one on a plate for Erl. He’s the least of our problems at the moment
I think you will find he is the elephant in the room that people dont wantto confront......

Yes there are big problems defensively and in DM BUT KDB is massively on the wain....he has zero running power anymore and is spending most of his time joggng around and hanging deeper trying to find space which is acceptable if he has other parts ot his game...he used to. he doesnt know

OK aint good engouh

Gundogan is right - we're doing 90% of what we need to do and getting caught out.

Haaland should score first half and the first goal contains another error.

There was no need to play quicker etc, we created sufficient openings to score. It's just a fraction or so off. Juventus played it tight and took their opening - Haaland and Doku need to get an understanding as it has cost us again.

But as ever, how we attack is how we defend. The second goal is a poor give away and then panicked running that leaves a gap for Danilo to pass into, from there we're in trouble.

The only difference I would make is calming the press down. I'm convinced the high press era of football is coming to an end, with teams & systems better suited against it. A majority of the PL teams are now more of a threat when they have less possession.

Pep is unsackble for this season and we should at least see what happens at end of the Summer transfer window with the new signings and if he can get us firing again. The FA Cup is our only realistic trophy we can win this season.
Nobody is un sackable in football, we are an enormous footballing colossus that is regressing at an alarmingly fast rate
