Juventus (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

If Pep thought that they were good enough and ready to play, then they would.
Right, so what we're watching from Rico, Gundo and Silva week in week out is good enough ? I'm not saying the 3 youngsters are good enough I'm saying they can't do any worse than the shitshow we're seeing yet they don't play a minute, Pep has his favourites that's all.

I thought we played quite well in large parts of the game. it's the final third thats the real problem. Bottom line is we couldn't be a depleted Juventus. Other than that, if Haaland cannot convert atm then lets play an invisible cf. We won the league with that tactic. The season is going to produce very little so let's give the younger ones a chance to shine. For me Rico can run his socks off but does he really offer much more than that?

Like I said before, Pep can still try McAtee, Wright, O'reilly from time to time and give Rico a rest, it's not just the injuries to the main players.
I thought McAtee played 30 minutes against sporting when city were 3:0 up.
Also why not mentioning Pusey in the list.

So all our fans 30 and under are not "true" fans? Nonsense. We can't expect them to laugh at this situation. Back in the day it was much easier to be OK with a lack of success. There weren't these expectations. This squad was considered the best squad in the world less than 2 months ago and now can't beat ANYONE. In fact, in many games we aren't even competitive. And our legendary manager seems at a loss to stem the bleeding. These younger fans are in shock. Why? Because what's happening is shocking, simple as. As an older fan myself I'm glad these young fuckers are in an uproar. God bless them!!!!
yes. the new fans have to learn their tried like we did.

You can wish for Pep to be sacked, but it isn't going to happen.
Stop spinning it a ,,I'm not wishing it infact i think the best for all concerned would maybe for him to walk
Answer me 1 question,
Would you be quite happy for this to continue for the next , let's say 5 seasons ?
Because on what your saying ,you would be , what I'm saying is exactly how long is to long? Serious question

Somethings got to change and very fking quickly, I'm at the point i never thought I'd be but he either walks or we take that option away
He just seems so reluctant to change anything or do things differently, all good things come to an end , just looks to me as though every team has sussed us or the players have just nothing left in the tank, truth be told I think maybe a mix of the 2.
And dont start with the,,you fking rag ,ungrateful **** blah blah blah,,,I've had my ticket 40 years and I really do think time is up .
We all have opinions and that is mine, and I don't give 2 fks if you agree or not
Peps hands are tied to a certain degree as he can only work with what he’s got. Just wish he’d try something different sometimes and make changes quicker

The problems stem from piss poor recruitment, lack of contingency planning for disasters like Rodri getting injured.. and of course rank bad luck with injuries .. although some of that is linked to the lack of planning as anybody knew stones, Ake and a few others are made of glass

Pep has definately lost the plot. Sooner we crack on the better

It's all a load of bollox. If buts and maybes mean fuk all now
Especially when the ifs are about Stones and Ake being fit
Sorry but read only until "Ake is a squad player who does a good job". I mean so stupid. Ake closed the game for people like Salah, Rodrygo, Saka and many others multiple times. He got us important goals and high quality link up plays at the highest possible football level for years. Won Treble, multiple PL's, played 90 min against Real/Inter/LFC/Arsenal/Bayern etc. in CL year after year winning most of the games or being super close.

Hes not top quality, so who is?

Mate, sorry, I was really at fault to respond to You, Your first post should have told me everything I want to know about Your judgment, hard to believe You are a City fan anyway, just let it end hear, good day for You.
Ake has to be a squad player because he can't be relied upon to start 5 games in a row. Having a could game and missing the next month does not make you top quality.

Completely agree that in games against Bayern he was brilliant. Surprisingly though he missed both semis against Madrid injured though.

Haha you've got me. When I signed up here before the takeover I was clearly just biding my time.

Would you prefer he gives the very media we all hate ammunition to take shots at the club, the players and the management team? Im glad he came out, calm, collected and didn't give them anything to feed on. I'm more bothered that behind closed doors he is able to come up with a solution to the problems.

Those expecting or demanding a fundamental change in how we play to cater for the injuries and bad form will be disappointed. Pep, like all geniuses, make success out of being stubborn bastards. They accept that 95% of the time they will achieve their desired outcomes, whilst 5% of the time they won't (during which times they remain true to their methods and things will eventually revert back to the 95%). We are currently in a 5% period. Eventually it will turn, if the title and CL hopes are gone at that point, so be it.
There’s a difference between taking shots at the club and saying after every match that he thinks we played well and he’s proud of the players

Sacking Pep is not an option. The club isn't going to eat 50 mil. It's not a matter of Pep out. It's a matter of will Pep be able to get us back on track. We are left to hope...

I'm fine with people being annoyed. I'll let things go at the game, honestly. Emotions are high, it's a release for all of us.

But fans of every age need to realize that supporting even the most successful club in football involves more pain than success. You can't win a trophy every season, if it was easy then many clubs before Man City got money would have done it.

If this is an off season for us then it's an off season for us.

Well Gundo et Al....how about pressing and tackling instead of shuffling backwards giving the attacker thinking time and time for his mates to arrive
He's never been the quickest defensively but he shouldn't be playing this amount of games really, but needs must.

But it's not just him, our team defending is awful.

Players need to do their jobs, if you're a fullback for instance, defending is your number 1 priority. They're being caught out of position, it's costing us goals and it happens every game.

Same old same old I’m afraid…..story of our season.

  • Very little creativity apart from Kev who got more and more sloppy as the game went on.
  • Caught out playing a high line once again. Doku lost the ball and hey presto Juventus are on the counter.
  • The inverted full back is costing us in every match.
  • Build up too slow and side to side to side to side to side and then no ball into the box.
  • Walker once again not trying to stop a cross coming in and costing a goal.
  • We probably had as many chances as Juventus but drew a blank due to wastefulness.
  • Weak in the tackle.
  • Wide men that can’t cross.
Something has got to change, apart from Kova coming back I cant see where the midfield is going to improve.

I think this is Pep’s biggest ever challenge with probably the least talented squad he has ever managed and he cannot stubbornly stick to what was previously tried and tested.
We dominated the game tonight without being anything like the standard we're accustomed to. Seems that every mistake is punished and at the other end nothing bobbles our way when opposing defenders make mistakes. We'll make the play-offs and by the time of those games, which incidentally will be against another struggling side, we'll have addressed a few things. Not a single one of these other struggling sides will want us in the play-offs.

Here, here

Thankfully I was in the pub tonight at "crossword club". Rock and rollllll
Footy sounds shite, though we did finish the guardian, telegraph and times cryptics between the four of us, so quite a result...

That was Feyenoord and yeah plenty of minutes indeed, what about Pusey ? only has two starts in all competitions and just the one in the league, hasn't featured since the International break.

If Pep thought that they were good enough and ready to play, then they would.
But that’s a reductive line of argument for me because in essence it means saying trust in Pep, full stop, he knows best, end of discussion.
This is a supporters footy forum and we’re on an awful run of results, so imho its absolutely valid for suggestions about team changes to be made on here.

And after all, I’m sure we can both think of and agree on occasions where even the mighty Pep has got it wrong or made mistakes with players ;-)

Fwiw, when I have seen Williams he looks like he still has his fair share of mistakes in him, but I’d definitely like to see Wright given a chance.
