At this stage could they be any worse? If Pep thought that they were good enough and ready to play, then they would.

Just like all the imitators, we are playing the Pep way, without the players to do it.
We are too old and too slow.
We are too easy to play against. Teams know they can set up with a low block, deny us space and then just boot it over our left back, into space.
We look like we are running in treacle, trying to get back.
Doku looka like our only threat and he had 3 players on him at times last night.
I seen a headline this morning.
Old Lady -2
Old Men - 0
I think that sums up our current predicament.
The lost CL revenue will be partly off set by the CWC revenue.Exactly, reorganise, and respond- hopefully.
We are about to find out over the next couple of months just how good a manager Pep is. The question was always raised that he wouldn't do it with a Bristol or a Bilbao. He only succeeds with the best crop. Well now he has a stable full of donkeys it appears with a Gold Cup coming up. Can he do it?Excellent summary
Maybe, but no one foresaw what's happening now as a consequence, yet now it's happened people are saying it was inevitable.I’ve seen/heard hundreds of people lament the club for not signing the required number/level of players to keep the squad competitive over the last couple of years.
Elite players wont sign to be Rodri's bag carrier when they can be captain of the Georgies (for example) and start every week.Peps hands are tied to a certain degree as he can only work with what he’s got. Just wish he’d try something different sometimes and make changes quicker
The problems stem from piss poor recruitment, lack of contingency planning for disasters like Rodri getting injured.. and of course rank bad luck with injuries .. although some of that is linked to the lack of planning as anybody knew stones, Ake and a few others are made of glass
There's a lot on Pep now !!Same old same old I’m afraid…..story of our season.
Something has got to change, apart from Kova coming back I cant see where the midfield is going to improve.
- Very little creativity apart from Kev who got more and more sloppy as the game went on.
- Caught out playing a high line once again. Doku lost the ball and hey presto Juventus are on the counter.
- The inverted full back is costing us in every match.
- Build up too slow and side to side to side to side to side and then no ball into the box.
- Walker once again not trying to stop a cross coming in and costing a goal.
- We probably had as many chances as Juventus but drew a blank due to wastefulness.
- Weak in the tackle.
- Wide men that can’t cross.
I think this is Pep’s biggest ever challenge with probably the least talented squad he has ever managed and he cannot stubbornly stick to what was previously tried and tested.
Let him continue, every player should be a captain and he does talk sense. Why is Ruben doing all the talking to the press and post match. Where's our captain.
Having travelled down the lonely road that was the 80’s and 90’s I know where you are coming from. But even in the bad old days sometimes enough was enough. If a team ceases to function at anything approaching a basic level questions need to be asked. At the end of the day it's all about results and even Pep is not immune to this law.I'm fine with people being annoyed. I'll let things go at the game, honestly. Emotions are high, it's a release for all of us.
But fans of every age need to realize that supporting even the most successful club in football involves more pain than success. You can't win a trophy every season, if it was easy then many clubs before Man City got money would have done it.
If this is an off season for us then it's an off season for us.
Many comments on here are spot on observations of a team and coach who have lost their way,and not emotional or personal.More like those completely turning on the team, the players and the manager during it's first bad period in years.
If the new signings have already played in the CL, can they play for us?The bonus is our next game in the CL until the end of January. By that time I hope to see at least 2 new signings in the team
The new recruits will have to have an immediate impact in a shot team.....thats not easy when many players have taken a season to bed into a great, winning team !!I have to agree the side is also mentally shot which in some respects is even worse and we don't have the leaders on the pitch to rectify the slide.
History is littered with quick and significant slides at that and we will just have to bear it as our turn has come.
With decent replacements to our aging squad that has well and truly run it course now we will come back to challenge again and have more trophy success , it might not come overnight but it might be quicker than some pessimists think it will take.
All things being equal only a handful if that of our current squad that are required and want to stay will be part of the next trophy challenge.
If the new signings have already played in the CL, can they play for us?
Good point, don't think they would be able to in the group stage part but they'd at least allow the golden oldies some rest time in the league games around it.If the new signings have already played in the CL, can they play for us?
Merry XmasBoring and predictable, zero pace, zero excitement, imagine paying 78 quid on. Boxing day to watch that
