Juventus (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

The most disappointing thing for me is none of the youngsters are getting a fair crack. They will probably be released soon, and then become good players elsewhere. Lavia and Palmer being prime examples.
Yes, ridiculous that we let them go and Alvarez.
Peps always complaining about too many games and exhausted players, yet insists on a small squad. Over simplifying it, you almost need a midweek team and weekend team.

Happens to every side.

Where would liverpool be without Salah?

Barcelona once struggled when Messi wasn't playing.

The same for Madrid when ronaldo was out.
Too true, but also you can play without a striker, we have done it many times, but you can not play without a DM, especially if you have no back up, or even anybody who can fill in. We will concede even to rubbish sides.

I don’t really post on forums or social but reading what folks are writing on here and in the rag media, I feel like I’m going crazy and living in a parallel universe.

We are where we are because of years of underinvestment by our skint owners! Our net spend over the last five years, total net spend, is £169m! That is the ELEVENTH highest in the premier league, 11!

The rags’ net spend in that period is £650m, Arsenal’s is £556m, chavs’ is £940m and the scourers’ net spend is almost 300m, yes the scousers who are always complaining about how much WE spend. We’ve been outspent by Nottingham Forest and West Ham ffs!

And then the ragity media and the assortment of rag “pundits” talk about unfairness and how no one can compete with a “state-backed” team. If anything, our net spend makes the 4 in a row a Cinderella story that beats Leicester’s by a country mile. A team being outspent by 10 other teams while still dominating for many years in a row and winning the UCL, all while being accused of unfairness. Pep and the players don’t get the credit they deserve.

The story is not that this team is not doing well now, it is the miracle that has been the last five years. Our owners should wake up and see the mess they created. Outspent by the fucking glazers, by Daniel Levy, and by the dildo man at West Ham.
Stick to your guns mate

Stick to your guns mate

Everything I said is true. But go ahead and be mad at Pep because you want five in a row with barely any investment.

When we beat the rags on Sunday, just remember how much the two teams spent over the past five years and how much we’re punching above our weight.

It’s criminal how the owners have let us atrophy this badly.

bournemouth away first half we were battered mate lucky to be only one down, and obviously the last 10 v feyenoord
but agree in all of the other games

Take your point in the first part of that Bournemouth game but over the course I felt we were competitive and could/should have ended up with a point. No denying we look shaky in spells but we also have periods in games where we are largely controlling the game as was the case last night too. Their first goal was hugely against the run of play and ironically so was their second. If we can start to unlock tight defences again we'll be sound and I think that'll come as players recover from injury and we make a small number (3-5) decent additions.

I don’t think he’s saying everything is all good!

If anybody dared to say SAF is a better manager than Pep City fans are all over them but now we have those same City fans wanting Pep sacked!

We have posters claiming Pep is the best manager in World football and now the same posters want him sacked!

Performances haven’t been great , far from it, but we are talking about a manager that has won 6 league titles, a domestic treble, a treble including Champions league and just won 4 league titles in a row. It’s utterly laughable people are calling for him to be sacked after a couple of months of poor form! Remember form is temporary and when City have a full compliment of players back that winning mentality and form will return !
Pep is now under contract through 2025-26 at 20 mil/annum. The only way he leaves before then is if he resigns. The club aren't going to eat roughly 50 mil anytime soon. That's one reason I don't get involved in any sack Pep debates at this time.
That said, if the club don't step up and make a series of critical moves this squad now requires neither Pep or anyone else will be challenging for any top honors, simple as. The current squad is far from the standard required to remain at the top of the table. The absurd amount of injuries don't help but it goes beyond that. Some combination of complacency, poor judgement and strange conservatism have conspired to make us frankly unrecognizable at the moment. Personally I don't see the problem with admitting we are terrible at present and have no problem with those who are worried or those who are angry.
On a side note I think this whole situation has brought about a new class of supporters, unhappy, raging clappers railing against anyone and everyone who deigns to ask questions of the club, of the players and most especially of Pep. It's actually pretty funny...

Spittin' facts.

The injuries are obviously taking their toll.......however we shouldn't be surprised about Ake, Stones or KDB being out because they have form for this and and the warning signs have been there for a couple of years.

Rodri apart ( and I would like to think that Bobb was going to be a big player for us this season) who else on the injured/missing list is really going to make a big difference for us this season....maybe Foden returning to something like, would no doubt help.

Five on the trot was always going to be a big ask......but this is probably where Fergie got it right.
Although he didn't achieve 4 in a row, the Rags never really suffered the downturn we are now seeing and he knew when to let players go, freshen the squad up and introduce younger players - Which is my biggest disappointment and frustration with Pep.

We have no divine right to win trophies every year but I think most fans realised we had 'squeezed the pips' out of last years team and a refresh was required.

I also think there has got to be another underlining issue -

  • The Cup final performance !
  • Why did Ederson want to leave ?
  • Has the uncertainty over Pep cost us on the pitch and Txiki off the pitch ?
  • The constant speculation over the 115 allegations which we originally used as a catalyst was bound to have some kind of negative demoralising reaction on the team - The press have done a sterling job here !

I am sure we will get it right again however this maybe 2 years later than it should have taken and it is a shame that we cannot use this season to build for next season, especially if we cannot get our transfer targets in January.
