Is this why Vinny, Otomendi, Ferandinho, were not played on Saturday? because Pellegrini wanted to finish in top spot?
If so, I hope for his sake we win tonight, and that the performance at the weekend is a turning point in our season, which, barring the initial faultless start has become a bit stop/start and erratic.
Vinny was/is injured, the other2 got back late from internationals.nico played 90 mins on the wed morning but dinho only 11 mins but with same journey back

We've qualified anyway so who gives a fuck !

Exactly. Quite why we threw the game against Liverpool, whilst aiming off for this competition that has Bayern and Barca is utter lunacy.

We are not capable of lifting this trophy yet, and quite frankly the longer we string out our eventual exit will only serve to damage our Premier League chances.

Its important for the mindset going into Saturday.

Of all the sides expected to challenge for this years title we appear to be the most fragile if things go against us or sides press us.

Beating Liverpool was important for the mindset mate, he disregarded that game as not the end of the world if we get beat-I don't see why that doesn't apply to tonight's game.Does it matter if we play Barca in the final 16 or the quarters?

Vinny is out until Stoke at best.

I doubt any side we put out on Saturday would have done us justice , too many were off their game and we were as slow as treacle for reasons apparently unknown to the manager.

. . . . . . . .Hart . . . . . . . .

Clichy Sagna Otamendi Kolarov

. . . . . . . .Fernando . . . . . . . .

. . . . Delph . . .Fernandinho . .

Navas . . . . . . . . . . . . .Sterling

. . . . . . . KDB/Kun . . . . . . . . .

Strongest defence, plenty of pace on the break.

Bit defeatist that?!

I agree any win is important going into the next game for the feel good factor alone if nothing else.

Too much has been made for leaving Ferni and Oti out and playing with 2 man midfield though and its pure speculation we would have done much better with them in the side.

When as many players are off the mark and to a man you would think our side was full of French Internationals on the day you have to be against pretty poor opposition or very fortunate to come out with anything.

As I said before a poor Wolves team would have come away with three points on Saturday at COMS.

He didn't disregard the game , he got his tactics wrong from the outset and the players were on LSD.

Perhaps the soul searching done afterwards to address it and making the steps to ensure it doesn't happen again this season should have included what the players ate and how they prepared for the game.

I agree winning form is good form and gives you confidence and licking your chops for the next game to arrive.

Good sides don't see playing deep into the Chumps League as inhibiting their league form in fact they see it as a positive as playing against good sides give you better habits as to what to do better next time or at least it should and gives you more opportunity to hone your skills and mindset.

If our players cannot cope with two games a week for part of the season then maybe they should look at a transfer to Sunderland.

You've got to ask yourself that if they can lift themselves for a big CL game (and that's an if) then what the fuck is going on in PL games, surely that starts with the manager?

As it happens, I for one care quite a lot about whether we're bundled out in the next round for the umpteenth time by Barcalona or Bayern. More importantly than that — much more — I've got a notion that our owners care as much as, if not more than, me or anyone else on this forum.
