KAKA - WHAT HAPPENED AJAY

What are the chances of Italian press putting articles like The Guardian's out there for reading? Does anybody know?

I wonder what the opinion of the transfer saga will be if they do.

they won't care and won't wanna hear it... it's like fluking a win in the last minute against the rags after being battered for 90 mins... just imagine your reaction in the boozer afterwards... unbounded joy and talking bollocks... that's what it'll be like. You'll have two or three cappuccino monkeys high-browing over it, but not much else.

Surely if he earns money from other sponsors that's not going to cost us anything, so why should it affect what we would pay him?

Just as we would have been buying out his contract with Millan, it may be that we would have had to buy out or compensate for his current commercial contracts.

Sponsorship creates exposure, so these contracts may have specific clauses about the level of Kaka's on and off field public appearances.

Perhaps the brands are Italy-based and would not have followed Kaka to England.

Perhaps they would not deal with Kaka unless he was a Milan player e.g. Addidas because they sponsor Kaka and Milan he could not come and wear a Le Coq Sportif City shirt.

This is only speculation but clearly the commercial rights are very complex, as Cook said.

I certainly believe Cook's account, particularly as the Milan version of events spun Berlusconi and Kaka into fairytale saviours of their club - its all too perfect.
