I’d suggest there are few, if any, inherited plus bought-in defenders who have increased their value. Now that may be for a variety of reasons but we are hardly turning oysters into pearls in the defence department.

We knew his quality when we signed him and that's what he's been since.

If only there was a right footed version on the market then we'd avoid splurging on someone pushing thirty or someone who hasn't shown any sustainable quality yet.

He probably has marginally, or at least used his ability fully in a Pep team. But was saying he has increased his value, doubt he would go for much less than £85/90 million now.
