Off the top of my head Balotelli, Robinho, Jovetic... Always involved subsidised loans.Which young big signings have we struggled to get rid of?

You believe everything he says?It was literally out of Khaldoon's mouth.
Your taking it out of context, I'm not arguing any of that, read any of my posts over the last hour or so. If we sign him great, if the club believe he represents value for money, great. I just personally don't. The bit you highlighted is my whole point, if you sign a younger player you have more options, more competition long term, the player who isn't cutting it can still be sold on to make a profit/recoup some money if someone better comes along. Hence why a younger signing is always better than an older signing, if they're of equal quality. No, because you can bin them and buy another CB!
This is all about options, I would be happy with both CB options (I won't complain if we get Dayot, and maybe prefer him more), but the club see Koulibaly as fitting in better, being higher quality to elevate the team right now.
It doesn't really matter if you don't believe this, the club thinks he will increase our quality immediately, most likely over Dayot, and I can't see their decision is wrong, because he probably is more suitable tbh due to his time under Sarri.
This is a weird thing to argue over imo, why argue over your options between two great options?
Of course it doesn’t but you much consider the age demographic of your squad and the plan to upgrade and replace overallNot every single signing has to be a 10 year plan signing. That’s our general demographic when we’re looking at new players but sometimes you have to be willing to break that rule for the final pieces of the puzzle, just as Khaldoon himself has said in his latest end of season interview. at some point we have to have everything come together at once, players like Aguero, Fernandinho, Walker even KDB cannot wait around anymore whilst we attempt to get our shit together elsewhere on the pitch and sign a 23 year old who’s going to take 3 years to establish himself as one of the very best, we need the best quality we possibly can get right now and I fail to see anybody better than Koulibaly.
Yes there’s a risk it won’t work as there is with every single signing but you reduce that risk to the lowest possible percentage when you go after the best. As much as it pains me to say it Liverpool did it twice and it got them what they wanted, it’s our turn now.
We signed Fernandinho at a similar age for a significant amount of money at that point, wonder how many people saying no to Koulibaly were against signing him too and he’s in a position where you typically peak earlier and decline earlier.
I’m probably being a bit pedantic. There will always be more interested parties in a younger player, but the point stands that wages are always the biggest obstacle to getting rid of unwanted players.Fair point.
Rodwell lol lord!! I remember one good game he had. But I think he could have been decent if he could have stayed injury free. Same with jovetic. Kind of weird when some players in our team are always injured then leave and don’t get injured anymore..minus rodwellMangala, Rodwell...
Maybe and I hope so I am also slightly dubious about signing players from relegated teams generally they get relegated for a reasonAs a defender, I think he's as good or better than any of them, but not as dominant aerially as some due to his size.
Like any signing though, we will only know that once he settles in. It will be as much down to whether he can form a partnership with someone, a crucial aspect imo, which Pep has not bothered about in recent times.
