We are lucky in the sense that our best players do not leave our club unlike of other top EPL clubs, Ronaldo, hazard, coutinho, fabregas are the examples. May be we do not have the players that are not extraordinary to be fit to play barca or real madrid (until this year or last - de bruyne, laporte are now a days) or may be we are too good holding onto players. If are not a selling club so when we sell players the players would not be that good for us. But still selling players like boateng, now garcia and even sane in cheap. I cannot correlate it.We’re awful at selling players. That’s what happens when you have too much money.
Buying players for cut prices is all about an egoboost for the negotiator, show the world you’re a skillful businessman.

It’s not like we can’t afford Koulibaly. This is just an egotrip and staredown from both parties. Almost want this to fail just so they learn a fucking lesson. It’ll be a very costly mistake from us if we fail, no doubt.

I agree, Txiki really does struggle to get complex deals over the line.Hmmm, interesting.
This could be a tactic of Napoli's to brief the media so we hurry and pay up for Koulibaly. If it isn't and the interest with PSG is genuine, then Txiki really has dropped a clanger.
We went a couple of seasons without getting an understudy for Fernandinho, luckily for us it didn't cost us. Can we go another season without replacing Vincent Kompany? Absolutely no chance.
Pep would have been fuming to miss out on Maguire last summer, he will be absolutely and i mean absolutely raging to miss out on Koulibaly this window. We have wasted almost our entire summer trying to wrap this deal up and still are nowhere near close to getting it done.
Txiki needs to get this done, i don't care what it costs... we are absolutely desperate and i mean DESPERATE for a top CB. Our defence needs leadership, it needs a commanding presence in there alongside Laporte. Txiki needs to realise that he is putting Pep's reputation on the line here. He HAS to deliver.
If he does not deliver this window, it is time to employ someone else who can manage to get deals over the line with as little fuss as possible and assign Txiki a new role within the club.
I think our window really rests on this transfer. If we don't bring Koulibaly in, we have no chance of winning the Premier League or getting close to winning the CL. I still think we need a LB and another midfielder or forward player as well as Koulibaly, but not bringing in a top CB like Koulibaly would be the definition of a disastrous window.

A couple weeks ago, this thread was filled with comments like, is he the rignt player, is he good enough, is he long term enough, is he too old, is he too expensive, leader, poor season, who would you rather see. etc etc. With probably a 50-50 split.
now it is mostly, just pay whatever it takes and get him signed. A little bit of time pressure, and mindsets shift completely. Probably doesn't work on ADL, but our guys seem happy to let it drag on, otherwise they'd have matched his asking price, if that was indeed our top target.

Spending huge amounts of money doesn't always guarantee success and who knows that Havertz Werner and Ziyech will be good signings. They have a shit goalkeeper, Piss poor midfield and not one good centre half.
Liverpool will finish 20+ points ahead of them.
Ffs. For everyone moaning that Chelsea have moved quicker - have they signed a centre back? No. There aren't many good options available.
As for everyone saying they'll win the title: Caballero is their first choice . All this fuss about Havertz and Ziyech: check out their stats, it's not that impressive, and they'll need time to bed in as we've seen ... everywhere and every year. The only one I'm really impressed with is Werner, he looks like a young version of Kun.
