Kalidou Koulibaly

We should make him the top priority this window. Two top draw centre backs in Koulibaly and Laporte backed up by a world class prospect in Garcia and a local talent in Tosin. Fernandinho and Rodri could drop in at times if needed. Would be the perfect balance in my opinion.

I’d sell Stones now if there is interest from Newcastle. He’s had plenty of time to crack it under what should be his ideal manager and never quite done it for me, bar the odd decent spell. Time to cut our losses while he still has decent value and give Tosin a go.

Will be the best defender in the league, and if we get 3 years of that level out of him he’ll be worth the investment, especially if we could offset it with someone like Otamendi part-ex plus the financial outlay recycling money generated with the sale of Stones.

Agree with everything. The Liverpool-Napoli games I’ve watched, Koulibaly out performed Van Dijk.

Whatever the fee, if we get 3 years out of him like you said it will be easily worth it. We might even be lucky and Koulibaly could be a Fernandinho type and comfortably play into his mid-thirties.

He would slot right in, years of possession football and positional play under Sarri, the physicality and pace needed for the Premier League. Can speak French with his CB partner Laporte and also speaks Italian which means Pep who also speaks Italian can easily communicate with him as well.

Don't think there'll be much big money activity either way, centre back will be our biggest but would be surprised if we go over £50Mill. Expect our targets are much the same whichever way it goes.

Noone else is going to be the best defender in the league while Laporte is playing in it.
 
would be an incredible signing, walker LaPorte koulibaly mendy would be one of the best defences if not the best defense in the world.

I see still being linked with Liverpool....but can’t believe they would bag him for only 54m.
Is that their limit given the Werner fiasco ?

Cant see liverpool spending much this summer, tbf cant see many teams spending big this summer, i think mainly its just rumours with liverpool and kouilbaly i think if there going to sign someone it will be an attacker not a defender
 
Duncan Castles is still linking us with Koulibaly in his latest podcast. Stating that Gattuso is already aware that the club is selling him this summer. The player wants to join City.

thanks mate, just had a listen.

very encouraging. Castles has been spot on with City info recently even though he’s a rag.

Would be a top top transfer. Takes our defense to the next level, get it done.
 
If we can sell Stones or Otamendi it still leaves Garcia to get plenty of games under his belt in rotational matches. But Laporte and Koulibaly would give us the best centre half pairing in the league.
