Kalidou Koulibaly

Chris Smalling, Alex Sanchez, Lukaku, and Ashley Young all the same, different football.

Koubaily will be destroyed week in week out in this league, the number of games alone will hurt him.

We could do a lot worse than look towards that Farmers League in France.

You know, the one that has the World Cup winners?

It's a fast, physical league with plenty of players hungry enough to want to better themselves and their salary.

Same goes for Germany.

Does pep see foden as a midfielder? he plays foden LW and False 9 last couple of games

He's played him all over the shop and it says a lot for Foden, he seems to be able to cope.

Foden would give us the legs and technique to thrive.

I'd argue he's not much physically dissimilar than Fernandinho, very strong and wiry?

Theres some really good players in both leagues i mostly watch bundesliga when not watching city, Denis who weve been linked with at monchengladbach reminds me of Yaya, Havertz really good for leverkusen, Rashica at werder bremen really good forward player. Defenders wise Ginter and elvedi are brilliant at Gladbach kept bayern out all game when they played. Striker wise Thuram as well brilliant player

Speaking on Ligue un Marseille CB Boubacar Kamara might be cheaper than Koulibaly, 20 years of age a really good defender can play out the back, Confident can see a team coming in for him in while for big money.

On the showing of this season? Yes, I probably would.

There's no guarentee that what we've done in the past is going to be replicated again. Performances of the ilk which you set out above were few and far between this season.

Football is about adapting. We don't need to be making significant changes, but in my view Pep does need to be tinkering the way we setup in order to make us a more solid unit.

We may lose control over every game, but what good is that control if significantly worse teams can just pump balls into the channels on the break and make our £200m back line look clueless?

There's no guarentee that going out and spending another £120m on a couple of pacey CB's, another £40m on a LB and hope that these guys will fix the problems.

If you want to talk about the present, the 2 teams who play the highest lines in the PL are Liverpool and City.

And the team with the highest line in the CL is Bayern.

And it's working well for them.

Is it working well for us at present? No.

That may change and we might be able to get back to the same level with the right signings, but there isn't a guarentee that it will, and that's where my concern lies.

One thing i forgot to say is hes fast, hes got abit of pace on him to catch wingers

I was just about to ask.

Whoever we get, as long as they are fast and good enough on the ball in the build up, everything else can be worried about later, most of our issues will be gone.

Another CB we could look at is Duje Caleta 23 years old plays in Ligue un Looks a prospect

Whoever we get in at CB is going to need better protection from the midfield in front than our current crop get. I think even VVD would struggle at times in this team. We need athleticism, positional awareness and some good old fashioned shithousery adding at DM, players like Partey, Ndidi and Camavinga would fit the bill.

High line is not a problem with an effective press. Look at us v real and Liverpool. Bayern the other night. When we have Jesus sterling and foden we are a machine. Our high line keeps the pressure at boiling point. If falls flat on its arse when we dont have the press.

i think we need to prioritize pace. Most players now can pass but you can’t teach fast.

They don't play a moronic, suicidal, offside trap, plus Van Dijk would have just dropped off & prevented all 3 goals last night, on his own, without even breaking sweat.

Our cbs are currently a bag of shit.

21 year old Upamecano has one good game against a super defensive side with a 31 year old past it Diego Costa leading the attack and automatically he’s the answer to all of problems. Hahah

Get real. Koulibaly is twice the player.
Haha. I’ve seen Upamecano half a dozen times and he’s been absolutely mustard each time.

City and United have been tracking him since he was 16 years old. Check the Upamecano thread on here.

Just because you’ve only seen him play one game, doesn’t mean the same goes for everyone else.
